Darwinism and the Nazi Race Holocaust
by Jerry Bergman

© 1999 Answers in Genesis

First published in Creation Ex Nihilo Technical Journal 13(2):101–111, 1999
All Rights Reserved.

Editor’s Note: Further back-ground on this topic may be found in Joe Keysor’s work on “Hitler, Germany, and the Holocaust”.

Leading Nazis, and early 1900 influential German biologists, revealed in their writings that Darwin’s theory and publications had a major influence upon Nazi race policies.

Hitler believed that the human gene pool could be improved by using selective breeding similar to how farmers breed superior cattle strains. In the formulation of their racial policies, Hitler’s government relied heavily upon Darwinism, especially the elaborations by Spencer and Haeckel. As a result, a central policy of Hitler’s administration was the development and implementation of policies designed to protect the ‘superior race’.

This required at the very least preventing the ‘inferior races’ from mixing with those judged superior, in order to reduce contamination of the latter’s gene pool.

The ‘superior race’ belief was based on the theory of group inequality within each species, a major presumption and requirement of Darwin’s original ‘survival of the fittest’ theory.

This philosophy culminated in the ‘final solution’, the extermination of approximately six million Jews and four million other people who belonged to what German scientists judged as ‘inferior races’.

Introduction

Of the many factors that produced the Nazi holocaust and World War II, one of the most important was Darwin’s notion that evolutionary progress occurs mainly as a result of the elimination of the weak in the struggle for survival.

Although it is no easy task to assess the conflicting motives of Hitler and his supporters, Darwinism-inspired eugenics clearly played a critical role. Darwinism justified and encouraged the Nazi views on both race and war.

If the Nazi party had fully embraced and consistently acted on the belief that all humans were descendants of Adam and Eve and equal before the creator God, as taught in both the Old Testament and New Testament Scriptures, the holocaust would never have occurred.

Expunging of the Judeo-Christian doctrine of the divine origin of humans from mainline German (liberal) theology and its schools, and replacing it with Darwinism, openly contributed to the acceptance of Social Darwinism that culminated in the tragedy of the holocaust.1 Darwin’s theory, as modified by Haeckel,2,3,4,5,6 Chamberlain7 and others, clearly contributed to the death of over nine million people in concentration camps, and about 40 million other humans in a war that cost about six trillion dollars.

Furthermore, the primary reason that Nazism reached to the extent of the holocaust was the widespread acceptance of Social Darwinism by the scientific and academic community.1,8,9,10

The very heart of Darwinism is the belief that evolution proceeds by the differential survival of the fittest or superior individuals.

This requires differences among a species, which in time become great enough so that those individuals that possess advantageous features — the fittest — are more apt to survive.

Although the process of raciation may begin with slight differences, differential survival rates in time produce distinct races by a process called speciation, meaning the development of a new species.

The egalitarian ideal that ‘all people are created equal’, which now dominates Western ideology, has not been universal among nations and cultures.

11 A major force that has argued against this view was the Social Darwinian eugenics movement, especially its crude ‘survival of the fittest’ worldview.

10,12 As Ludmerer noted, the idea that the hereditary quality of the race can be improved by selective breeding is as old as Plato’s Republic but:

‘ … modern eugenics thought arose only in the nineteenth century. The emergence of interest in eugenics during that century had multiple roots. The most important was the theory of evolution, for Francis Galton’s ideas on eugenics — and it was he who created the term “eugenics” — were a direct logical outgrowth of the scientific doctrine elaborated by his cousin, Charles Darwin.’ 13

Nazi governmental policy was openly influenced by Darwinism, the Zeitgeist of both science and educated society of the time.

10 This can be evaluated by an examination of extant documents, writings, and artefacts produced by Germany’s twentieth century Nazi movement and its many scientist supporters.

Keith concluded the Nazi treatment of Jews and other ‘races’, then believed ‘inferior’, was largely a result of their belief that Darwinism provided profound insight that could be used to significantly improve humankind.14 Tenenbaum noted that the political philosophy of Germany was built on the belief that critical for evolutionary progress were:

‘ … struggle, selection, and survival of the fittest, all notions and

Dissident Hoang Minh Chinh's Family and Residence being attacked by Viet Communists

URGENT REPORT No. 2
By Citizen Hoang Minh Chinh of Socialist Republic of Vietnam
To: Secretary General Nong Duc Manh
Chief of State Tran Duc Luong
Prime Minister Phan Van Khai
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Van An
Director of Public Security, Hanoi
People's Court of Hanoi
People's Court of Investigation of Hanoi
Also to:
Ms. Louise Arbour, United Nations High Commissioner for Human
Rights
International human rights organizations
Democracies' Congress and Government
National and International media
Vietnamese inside and outside Vietnam, and concerned people.
Ladies and Gentlemen:
I am Citizen Hoang Minh Chinh, born on 11-16-1922, former Secretary General of the Vietnam Democratic Party and former Head of the Vietnam Philosophy Institute.
I'd like to urgently report to you a serious event that happened at about 12:30 on Thursday 12-01-2005, in alley 26 of Ly Thuong Kiet Street, Hoan Kiem District, after my wife Le Thi Hong, my son-in-law, and I came back home from Hochiminh city on the 9:30 flight. To our surprise, we were immediately surrounded by dozens of waiting agitators who yelled loudly at us with slanders in dirty language, implying that I "had taken advantage of the trip to the United States for medical treatment, generously permitted by the party and the state, to make statements against them and behaved like a traitor to the country and the people and now I must be punished" The crowd, increasingly violent, began to attack us during our dozens of walks home with tomatoes, including efforts to hold my shirt and break water bottles on my head, cursing and threatening my relatives who were protecting me. The whole scene was continuously recorded by six cameras of various sizes already set up nearby.
After we entered our house, a niece-in-law of mine immediately locked the front door, leaving the crowd to remain in the yard to continue its crazy shouts and yelling. Some even demanded to come in and interrogate me against the defense of my relatives who had to stand the disturbances that lasted hours with physical brutalities against them and threats to break the door and hurt them. They kept calm and stood firm while providing the mob with polite explanation: "The old man was severely sick and is so exhausted by the trip that he is unable to answer your questions at this time. If he committed any crime, the state would punish him according to the law. It is an illegal act of you trying to enter our private house without our consent." The crowd continued yelling and shouting: "We don't need the law; the state did imprison him one year, yet, he went abroad to make wrong statements" In addition to about thirty elbowing people in the yard with cameras rolling, there were almost one hundred others standing closely against each other outside the iron gate, with a few of them even managing to climb over the fence and encouraging others to make so dirty utterances that can't be repeated on paper
In that critical situation, my wife called several police offices and authorities for help. All of them gave excuses to avoid responsibilities. Only the emergency police unit 113 responded, after several calls from my family, by sending over three policemen (two names could be seen above their breast pockets as Quoc, deputy, and Ngoc). They looked at the scene and, before leaving, said: "This is the consequence of what Mr. Chinh has done in America. We don't see any violence and there's nothing for us to intervene."
Around 2:30pm, the crazy crowd ordered us "to open the door in five minutes or it will be destroyed." My children continued to stand fast as some members of the mob successfully broke the window panes, jumped in and tried to force the door down while others used sticks to hit other windows and threw bottles of stinking shrimp paste inside my house. It was a scary horrible moment. Suddenly, they quietly told one another to 'retreat' as many of them shouted, "now we don't need to talk to that Hoang Minh Chinh, even if he invited us." They had apparently been ordered to leave, since they all disappeared within five minutes. My children waited some more time before opening the door.
According to some neighbors present at the scene, there were up to ten policemen in uniform waiting in the street. The event proved the police had allowed and encouraged violent brutalities against us and violations of the civil rights of my whole family.
Ladies and Gentlemen:
What has been described above was clearly part of some scheme.
1. During my stay in America for medical treatment, all newspapers in Vietnam, unanimously and at free will, carried articles of illegal fabrication, smearing, and slandering, from October 14 to 30, 2005, aimed at Citizen Hoang Minh Chinh. I did report all this in my request dated 10-31-2005 to sue the media before the Hanoi Court and Investigation Court. I have heard nothing from them since.
2. Aft

Daniel Webster

Daniel Webster

Daniel Webster's home and law office at 503 D St. NW (Judiciary Square)

Daniel Webster (January 18, 1782 – October 25, 1852) was a United States Senator and Secretary of State. Famed for his ability as an orator, Webster was one of the most important figures in the Second Party System from the 1820s to the 1850s. Like Henry Clay, his passionate patriotic devotion to preserving the Union lent him a predisposition to finding compromises between the northern and southern factions of the country.

Webster was born in Salisbury, New Hampshire. He was the son of Ebenezer and Abigail Webster (nee Eastman) and raised on his parents' farm (a small parcel of land granted to Ebenezer in recognition of his service in the French and Indian War). His parents were poor, but dedicated to his education and thus not only hired private tutors to teach him but also sent him to the Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire.

His time at the Exeter Academy was short (he left after 9 months) and traumatic. As a child Daniel had a deep fear of public speaking and was unable to conquer his fear sufficiently to deliver the required public "declamations" that were a feature of the education system at the time. Indeed, despite his later success as an orator, he is recorded as having been so petrified at school that he simply refused to stand up, and returned to his room in shame and in tears. The reason for his short stay at the academy is unknown, but seems likely to be simply the inability of his parents to meet the fees.

From Exeter he went to Dartmouth College, graduating Phi Beta Kappa in 1801. Here he laid to rest his terror of public speaking and began using his phenomenal memory and skill at speech writing. He became a member of the "United Fraternity" literary society, where he practiced the art of public speaking. So successful was he that shortly after his graduation the town of Hanover invited him to deliver their Independence Day oration. On graduating from Dartmouth he took a legal apprenticeship (firstly under Thomas W. Thompson and then Christopher Gore) and then in 1805 he opened his first legal practice in Boscawen, New Hampshire. In 1807 his father took over the Boscawen firm when Webster opened a new practice in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

In 1808 he married his first wife, Grace Fletcher, who died in 1828. With her he had one son, Charles.

From this point on his reputation as a lawyer grew quickly and he also became a Federalist party leader. In 1812 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives on the strength of his opposition to the War of 1812. He served two terms in the House before leaving Congress in 1816 and moving to Marshfield, Massachusetts (40 miles south of Boston near Plymouth, Massachusetts).

In 1816, Webster was asked to help in a legal matter by representing Dartmouth College. In the wake of the Jeffersonian Republicans' success in the New Hampshire elections (they gained the governorship and a majority in the state legislature) the state decided to declare Dartmouth a public institution. They altered the constitution and the size of the College's trustee body and then added a further board of overseers, which they put into the hands of the state senate. In essence they seized control of a private body without consultation or any offer of compensation. Webster assisted his friend Jeremiah Smith in fighting the action all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States, where he personally argued the case. The peroration of his speech was both emotional and well-reasoned. Due in large part to Webster's efforts, the court decided five to one in Dartmouth's favor.

In 1822, Webster returned to U.S. Congress from Boston, and in 1827 he was elected to the Senate from the state of Massachusetts. Shortly after that, in 1828, his first wife, Grace, died. He later married Caroline LeRoy.

After the demise of the Federalist party he joined the National Republican party. Here he chose to ally himself with Henry Clay, endorsing federal aid for projects to build roads in the West (see Internal improvements). In 1828, in response to the changing economic landscape in Massachusetts (there was a shift towards the manufacturing sector), he backed the high-tariff bill. This angered Southern leaders and brought Webster into dispute with South Carolina's Robert Young Hayne, who argued that his state had the right to overturn this particular piece of legislation. Webster, however, was successful in defending his stance in a Senate debate of 1830, culminating in his second reply to Hayne in which he uttered the famous phrase, "liberty and Union, now and forever, one and inseparable". It is possibly one of the greatest speeches ever delivered in the U.S. Senate.

In 1833 he joined forces with President Andrew Jackson to defeat South Carolina's continued attempts at nullifying the tariff. At the same time, Webster and his fellow Whigs battled Jackson over other matters,

We live in the deep southern part of the US in Charleston, South Carolina. Charleston is home to a vast variety of ethnicities and languages, especially Spanish speaking families to know that I am fluent in both Spanish and Italian.

I consider it a blessing to be able to converse with and assist people who do not speak English first. When they get taken advantage of, hurt or injured...they need an advocate who speaks their language and will represent them with a passion for correcting and compensating for the wrong.

LEWIS: THE GIFT OF PROMISE,

AIRDATE: Sunday 24 April 2011,

Season Five Episode Four

Andrea De Ritter, founder of an organization that supports gifted children,is murdered after making a presentation to Zoe Suskin, only fifteen but an Oxford student. That night Andrea had resisted the advances of young student Elmo Woodeson as well as sending a copy of the autobiography of former spy mistress Dame Grace Orde to Zoe's publisher father Leon. She had added inside the book Who Killed Mary? See Chapter 8. Both Leon and Elmo are killed shortly after and Zoe's tutor Donald Voss is poisoned though not fatally. Suskin had punched Liam Cullen,Andrea's lover, wrongly believing he was having an affair with his wife Judith following a text message to her and indeed sexual affairs, with Andrea at their hub, would seem to motivate the killings. However Dame Grace eventually tells Lewis that Mary,a naive young informant, was sacrificed by her IRA lover back in Belfast in 1987,when Grace was an operative and Liam worked for a pro-Republican lawyer.Revenge on the gunman is the true reason for the killings as he fights to prevent his exposure, though Dame Grace at least has a positive surprise for Lewis.
In the fifth season closer The Gift of Promise Lewis and Hathaway investigate when prominent local businesswoman Andrea de Ritter is brutally murdered. Their first suspicions are a blackmail plot that has gone awry but as they dig further they soon discover that Andrea may have discovered information about a government cover up.
Former MI5 chief Grace Orde has just published her memoirs and it seems Andrea was convinced that they held the key to a decades old death but Grace is not at all keen to be questioned by anyone.
The further death of Andrea’s lover Elmo, a poisoning and a stabbing seems Lewis a little out of his depth and have to tangle with the none too friendly workings of the British Secret Service.
A good season close with some high profiles guest stars and good to see Lewis a little out of his comfort zone here too having to deal with MI5 definitely rattles his cage a little.

365.49 Hiding in the closet

365.49 Hiding in the closet

I finished up jury duty yesterday (when this photo was taken). We got there at 2 PM 'cause the judge had some other stuff to do in the morning and we were done by 4:10 PM. I'm not so sure how I feel about things now that they're over. They went extremely fast considering it was a criminal case.

The douchebag ('scuse me) defendant was on trial for a DWI that happened nearly a full year ago. He got pulled over at 1:50 AM on a local highway for a broken taillight, and when the cop asked for his license, he smelled alcohol on his breath. The guy failed 3 out of the 4 sobriety tests, although he didn't really miserably fail. He refused a breathalyzer three times once he was taken in - the final breathalyzer being offered at 3:45 AM. He told the officer at the scene that he had two beers with dinner (mmhmm, and high schoolers don't drink underage), he wasn't driving erratically, and he was pretty cooperative.

Here's where things get a little fishy. We were on a 12 person jury for a DWI that happened nearly a year ago. This isn't something that normally happens for a first time incident. During the police officer who pulled him over's testimony, he was asked by the defense attorney if the defendant had been compliant in giving him his license and registration, and the police officer said, "Yeah...although I believe his license was suspended". Before he could take another breath, the DA had gotten up out of his chair and the judge told the court reporter to strike that from the record.

This is what I think happened: said douchebag has a bit of a drinking problem. He was driving at 2 AM after consuming way more than two beers with dinner to his girlfriend's house (I guess it's not cool to bed your g/f at mom's house - he was the kind of guy that looks like he still lives with mom even though he's in his 30's). While the officer was running radar, he noticed that not only did this guy's car have a broken taillight, but I'm sure something came up about his license being suspended. He used the broken taillight as an excuse to pull him over. Because the douchebag has played this game before, he knew better than to take a breathalyzer and have the incriminating evidence set against him. He instead refused and decided to take things to court. I'm assuming that over the year between when the incident occurred and when he was brought to trial, something happened that caused the judge to say that we couldn't know about his suspended license.

All of us jurors had assumed the above facts, but in respecting our law system and not taking into account all of our assumptions that we weren't allowed to have legal basis behind, we couldn't charge him absolutely with DWI. Instead we settled for DWAI (driving while ability impaired). It is a lesser charge and he probably deserved the DWI, but we're all hoping that in his sentencing, the judge will give him the max for DWAI (I'm not sure what that is, I have to look it up) and at least send him to some state-run alcohol program.

I'm a bit bothered that we couldn't charge him with what he probably was guilty of, but at the same time, I'm proud that we were able to follow the rules and instructions that we were given and trust that he would receive the proper punishment.

If you're still reading, haha, I'll tell you the reason for the picture now. After jury duty, my father and I drove out to the beach where we have some guests over that, well, I like/love them all, but I really don't know if I can live with them for too much longer.
