Although the awkward social commentary of "Movin' Out" and the swinging cover of Rufus Thomas's "Walking the Dog" have largely been forgotten, two standards emerged from Aerosmith: "Dream On," a prototypical power ballad with its keyboards and string arrangement, and "Mama Kin," which contains one of the most recognizable riffs in hard-rock history. Though Aerosmith would record better albums--both before and after their drug-induced implosion--their debut serves as a kind of road map to much of post-'60s rock & roll. --Genevieve Williams (14) Aerosmith Aerosmith was on the “Girls of Summer Tour “ when they made a stop at the First Union Center in Philadelphia. I was one of two photographers there to shoot the show and was amazed when they walked us out to a small waist level stage in the middle of the arena. I had my two film cameras around my neck, an F5 with a 80-2000 2.8 and my N90’s with a 20 mm 2.8. After initial reviewing of my negatives I did not notice this image. It was a few weeks later when I had some prints made that I realized I had captured an image with every member of the band visible. CIMG0033A I have fallen in love with sweatervests. This one is brown that somehow reasonably manages to fake grey-ness when worn with grey. The white, men's dress shirt looks less bulky in the photo than it actually feels. Even though its untucked tails look manageable here, I generally don't like how loooong and unflatteringly poofy/hang-y most men's dress shirts are. The vest reigns in the bulk nicely. I still think I need to do something else with the back, I had no idea I had such a humungous tan line from my t-shirts. Maybe I should make a bathing suit so I can get my back a little more tan... I may work on this some more, it's too blah in the front and I like it to fit a little more "feminine". Overall, I'm much happier with this alteration than my first one. I'll see what else I can come up with though. what have i become? I bought some new clothes last week. Now, I very rarely go clothes shopping. I hate shopping, I hate buying clothes, it's just something I am totally not into. Also, I am known for wearing nothing but shades of black, brown and gray. I have the wardrobe of a professional mourner. It's not just that the clothes are dark, either. They all look the same. All the shirts are very basic - solid colors, no designs, simple v-necks or scoop necks. Depending on the weather, I change up from short sleeves to long sleeves sometimes. I never wear shorts and I haven't worn a skirt/dress in about ten years. I have about five pairs of shoes and four of them are converse sneakers. Anyhow, last week I was hating myself and the way I look and feeling fat and frumpy and realized that my wardrobe was partly to blame. First of all, I was wearing clothes that were too big on me, making me look fatter than I already am. And the clothes that were the right size weren't shapely or form fitting or anything. They were just...there. Long story short (too late, I know) - I did some shopping. I don't know what came over me, but I bought.........colors. Lots of colors. Pinks and blues and greens. Bright greens. With shapes to them. And fluffy frilly kind of things on them. And pants that aren't black or gray. And a pair of shoes with heels. I stopped wearing my sneakers to work. Is this photo EDITORIAL enough for you? (you know who you are, sloth). Tomorrow is the final day of the Fashion Show auditions and once again, I must be there for two friggin' periods. But I don't mind. It's kinda fun running around and let loose... I learned that my good friend Nora is designing outfits from scratch. I'm amazed that she could do that. Hmm, I wonder if the clothes she wears is made from scratch as well. Anywho, last night and today, I brainstormed a whole jumble of photo ideas for the models. Since most of them will simply be wearing the outfit, I don't want it to be boring, so I'd say 95% of the ideas I have in mind will indeed be editorial and I wanted to test out the first one with this photo. My main concern is lighting and how I will control that, shadows, and skin toning. Today I got this outfit from Abercrombie & Fitch (sides from the v-neck, that I got from Ruehl). The frames are the Real-D 3D with the lens punched out. My hair is flipped in some strange angle, and yes, I look stern. This will be my outfit for tomorrow (: I have a whole set of photos. On top of that Monica is pregnant and Nick was ill. I was exhausted from trying to do too much in New York. It was my last night in New York and I had a small going away party. Nick and Monica were surprisingly nice enough to come to it and this was the last chance to take a photo of the both of them, that I desperately wanted to do. We ended up at the Yaffa Cafe with red lights looking like a Mexican brothel. I do like the Mexican bullfighter painting in the background. This is a red lit enhanced photo with a kind of hyper reality. I hope they like it. I mean this is for the lord of East Village underground cinema who wrote the Cinema of Transgression Manifesto. At the end of this posting, it is printed in it's entirety.I first met Nick ages ago in the East village while he was filming one of his East Village shocker films, but I remet Nick last October again. He is also an artist. An excellent artist in fact and I had the pleasure of being in the Club 57 Art show with him. That is where I met his dazzling partner Monica. Monica is originally from Mexico. Nick and Monica will be escaping the madness of Brooklyn to Mexico. Somehow this is very logical and I wish them both the best! I also want to point out that Nick is a film pioneer. Lots of famous filmmakers have used lots of ideas from Nick films. Have you ever wondered what the hell Bruce Willis was talking about in Terantino's film "Pulp Fiction" when he said, "Zedd is dead?" Nick Zedd has been a leading figure of the 80s Lower East Side Cinema of Transgression. He always felt if the viewer was not shocked after seeing one of his films he was not doing his job. At the same time his films were intense, but beautiful at the same time as being mind altering. What some would call bad taste at that time, nowadays you see in too many films. He worked with amazing underground actors such as Lydia Lunch, Kembra Pfahler, Rockets Redglare, Brenda Bergman, Taylor Mead and so many more. James Horner provides a fine score, but is overshadowed by a Mozart concerto and a recurring prelude from Wagner's Das Rheingold, a scrumptious weaving of horns fit to fuel the gentle intoxication of this film. I don't have a ton of choices either, seeing as my picnik isn't working ='( It's depressing. Anyway, this is so-so. Probably not even that haha. I definitely liked yesterday's better. Today was alright, semi-stressful. I had a lot to do. Right after school, i went and picked up my dresss ( :D ) from Perfect Fit, tried it on for the ladies there haha. They said they wanted to see it before i left =P So yeah, i liked it a lot :) Then i went tanning for the first time, got burned (YAY...don't ask where...hahaha) and got about a billion more freckles. Yay again. I hate my freckles haha. But whatever, i look semi-tanner i guess. I'm going again tomorrow after school so i can be at least not a snow bear for Prom haha. Softball practice was alright, i left my shirt at the field haha. I hope it doesnt rain tonight... crap... Anyway, got home, had dinner, shower, did Spanish and tried to work on bio and ended up here :) Haha. Still don't have everything done, but im gonna leave it for later cause i don't have time. So yeah that was my hectic day. Woop-woop. Gotta go sleep now though, i'm super tired. Peace, everyone. 4-29-09 Snow White Model: Brittany; both as Snow White and the Evil Queen. I didn't know what this shoot was going be like... it was the first time I was really depending on photoshop to get things right... Brittany is both Snow White & the Evil Queen in this picture. The camera is tripod mounted (to keep the framing the same to allow for an easier cut/paste). We shot the evil queen first so we'd know where to put her hand to get it to line up with the apple, and amazingly, we nailed it. I was expecting her hand to be hovering near the apple, but it looks like she's touching it. The expression on her face is also perfect, and her "staring right through" the evil queen/disconcerting look also really works (after all, there was no evil queen to stare at, she had to imagine it). [edit] TGT Tyrese Gibson has been attached to a new R&B supergroup called TGT with Ginuwine and Tank. He is quoted as saying "With all the support our fans have given us individually over the years for our distinct signature styles, collectively we felt our fans deserved to hear great music in a way that they could never have imagined. I've known these guys for years and they truly are like brothers, so it only felt right to come together as a trio to make history". The group is first featured on Tank's remix to the song "Please Don't Go". They also plan an international tour entitled "The Shirts Off Tour" which is set to start in February 2008.[3] [edit] Acting Gibson was given the role originally intended for Tupac Shakur in the 2001 film Baby Boy, and he subsequently appeared in the 2003 film 2 Fast 2 Furious (opposite Paul Walker with whom he formed a close friendship), as well as Flight of the Phoenix (2004), Four Brothers (2005) and Annapolis (2006). In 2006, Tyrese starred in Waist Deep; his co-stars in the film, Meagan Good and Larenz Tate, are personal friends of Gibson's in real life.[2] Like several of his previous roles, the film is set in an urban environment, but Gibson has said that he does not view the role as a "step back", rather seeing the film as taking "another direction" due to some of its themes and action sequences.[2] His most recent role was in the action film, Transformers. The film's director, Michael Bay, had Gibson in mind for the role before he was cast, and thus Gibson did not have to audition for the part.[4] Gibson may also star in a film version of the superhero Luke Cage; as of 2006, the script was being re-formatted.[4] In 2008, he reprised his role Air Force Technical Sergeant Robert Epps in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. [edit] Fear of owls During a 2003 appearance on the New Tom Green Show it was revealed that Gibson has an immense fear of owls. On the show he confessed that he has such a fear of owls that looking at a picture would make him "freak out".
