Project 365 #226: 140809 Another Fallen Icon
It seems like I'm posting far more obituary shots than I'd like for this 365.
This one goes out to music pioneer Les Paul. It's been fascinating reading about him, and discovering that he was a pioneer in the development of the solid body electric guitar and multi-track recording techniques.
It seems to me like he's been remembered for the wrong thing. Sure, he's got his name stamped in every Gibson Les Paul that exists, but I can't help but feel that it's multi track recording that really changed the world.
Either way, multi track recorders aren't really as pretty as guitars (at least domestic ones aren't) so it's guitars that I've photographed.
RIP Mr. Paul (that's Les, not the dodgy wine waiter from 1980s Crossroads).
If you look carefully there are 'whimsical' cut pieces, so called because, in Victorian times, the cutters applied their skill in making shapes 'on a whim'. Sometimes these puzzles are called 'Whimseys'. This one has several shapes such as 2000, an electric guitar and a knight.
When viewed in Original Size you will see these shapes and more.
The puzzle was cut by laser techniques, hence the neatness.
