    credit repair
  • Actively working to make sure that an individual’s credit report is accurate and up-to-date.  After filing for bankruptcy, this is especially important so that debtors can rebuild their credit and get a fresh start.

  • Credit history or credit report is, in many countries, a record of an individual's or company's past borrowing and repaying, including information about late payments and bankruptcy. The term "credit reputation" can either be used synonymous to credit history or to credit score.

  • A generally unscrupulous or illegal form of credit counseling that promises the impossible, such as erasing accurate records from your credit report.

WE BOUGHT THIS HOUSE!!!

WE BOUGHT THIS HOUSE!!!

UPDATE 9/14: The washer is fixed. I've never been so happy to wash clothes.

UPDATE 8/8: When it rains, the roof leaks. Just a little. And the washer broke last night. We spent a good hour wringing out clothes and bailing out water from the washer tub. I am not fit to own a house.

UPDATE 8/5: Next week begins the first wave of renovations. Kyle's dad is coming to town to help fix our Death Deck and work on other various projects. We'll also be getting a brand new fridge, stove/oven, and dishwasher installed. Pictures to follow...

UPDATE 6/6: We close tomorrow. Everything is squared with the bank and the PTB. We're going to be homeowners....

UPDATE 5/16: Are we really moving out the city? Are we insane?!

UPDATE 5/14: What'll we do while we're waiting? Loan documents faxed, earnest money cashed, down payment stashed. All I can think about is taking down chair rail. After I had our attorney put down the smack, the repairs that came up in the home inspection will be completed, and we will receive a credit for some other items. We close June 7.

UPDATE: After hours of negotiation, our offer on this house was accepted! Even better, we received a (relatively) clean bill of health from the home inspector last night. Now our attorney will see what the sellers will do for us, and I can finish up the loan process.

Prime Minister’s Secretariat

* I constituted a high powered Committee under the chairmanship of Minister for KANA to prepare a reforms package for the purpose.

* Here, I would like to mention that all major improvements were made during the period of PPP. The first noticeable administrative improvement came through the Northern Areas Council Legal Framework Order 1974-75 by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, wherein major administrative, judicial and political reforms were introduced and Jagirdari Nazam and FCR were abolished.

* Further democratization was done through the Northern Areas Legal Framework Order, 1994 by Shaheed Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto so as to ensure more internal autonomy to the people of Northern Areas through their elected representatives.

* Now the KANA Division has prepared a draft “ GILGIT-BALTISTAN (Empowerment and Self-Governance) Order 2009.

* I also took the leadership of the major political parties into confidence.

* The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly will formulate its own Rules of Procedures while legislation on various subjects pertinent to governance will be done by the Council and Assembly in their respective jurisdiction.

* Special meeting of the Cabinet was convened today to discuss the New Northern Areas Governance Order named “Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self Governance Order -2009”.

* This will replace Northern Areas Governance Order, 1994.

* The new name of Northern Areas of Pakistan shall be Gilgit-Baltistan as proposed under Article-2(f).

* There shall be a Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan as proposed under Article-20. and shall be appointed by the President of Pakistan.

* Till the election of the new legislative Assembly, Federal Minister for KANA will act as Governor.

* There will be a Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan who shall be elected by the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly.

This escalator was near the Starbucks serving as our jumping off point for last week's downtown Phoenix photowalk. When placing objects that are symetrical in the foreground of a wide angle shot it is important to make them... well symetrical. Live View on your camera helps with this as does the lens correction filter in Lightroom or Photoshop.

It was closed for a pipeline to be put in out to sea which had an unintended effect of reducing suicides from people jumping off it. Now there are debates whether to shut it, fence it ruining the views etc.

Reuben by the roadside east of Upper Sandusky, Ohio

Reuben by the roadside east of Upper Sandusky, Ohio

Reuben actually stopped by the roadside to walk with me. He told me the story of his nephew, who’s an Ob-Gyn doctor in Maryland. “His entire paycheck nearly all goes to malpractice insurance,” Reuben told me. “Insurance companies are trying to get everyone who can pay, even by coercion.” He told me he thinks it’s important to keep the profit mongering out of the health insurance business. “It's devastating,” he added. In terms of his own health insurance, as a child he survived Hodgkin’s disease but has recently been diagnosed non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

“It’s a risk factor of childhood Hodgkin’s disease,” I told him.

“Yes, I know.” Though his insurance was “80/20,” as he put it, he did pretty well.

“That’s good,” I said as we took a rest by the roadside.

She donates part of her time and care to the Church Health Center, and she expressed a deep need for malpractice insurance reform, which is killing the doctor's ability to provide care. It's always the damned insurance companies that are screwing anyone in this field.

After citing his concerns that there was no limiting principle to the
Administration's claim of authority in the War on Terror, Rep. Schiff
asked the Attorney General whether the Administration believes it has
the authority to wiretap purely domestic calls between two Americans
without seeking a warrant.

"I cannot rule that out," responded the Attorney General.

"This is very disturbing testimony," Rep. Schiff commented later, "and
represents a wholly unprecedented assertion of executive power. No one
in Congress would deny the need to tap certain calls under court order
-- but if the Administration believes it can tap purely domestic phone
calls between Americans without court approval, there is no limit to
executive power. This is contrary to settled law and the most basic
constitutional principles of the separation of powers."

Hanbury Hall Worcestershire October 2010

Hanbury Hall Worcestershire October 2010

Hanbury Hall was built by the chancery lawyer Thomas Vernon in the early 18th century. Thomas Vernon was the great grandson of the first Vernon to come to Hanbury, Worcestershire, Rev Richard Vernon (1549–1628). Rev Richard and his descendants slowly accumulated land in Hanbury, including the manor, bought by Edward Vernon in 1630, but it was Thomas through his successful legal practice who added most to estates, which amounted to nearly 8,000 acres in his successor Bowater Vernon’s day.

Hanbury Hall is thought to stand on the site of the previous mansion, Spernall Hall, and Thomas Vernon first describes himself as ‘of Hanbury Hall’ in 1706, and this and other evidence leads to a likely completion date of about 1706. The date of 1701 above the front door is thought to be a Victorian embellishment, but no building accounts are known to exist.

Although Hanbury Hall appears to be of a very uniform style, the rear wall is clearly of a different and rather earlier style, and may mark the first phase of a building campaign when Thomas Vernon and his wife Mary first came into possession of Spernall Hall in 1692 when his bachelor uncle John Vernon died.

A notable feature of Hanbury Hall is the painting of the staircase, hall ceiling, and other rooms by the English painter Sir James Thornhill. They include a small representation of Rev Henry Sacheverell being cast to the furies – this relates to an incident in 1710 when Sacheverell, a Tory, was put on trial for sedition by the Whig government, and dates the paintings to that year. The focus of the paintings around the stairwell is the life of the Greek hero Achilles, as told by a range of classical sources. They are surmounted by a large representation of the Olympian gods on the ceiling.

The original plan of the Hall had a large undivided central hall with the main staircase leading off it, with many rather small rooms in the corner pavilions and north range – the south range was given over mainly to service rooms. The 18th century Worcestershire historian Rev Treadway Nash, in his ‘Collections for the History of Worcestershire’, wrote “Here is a large handsome house built by Counsellor Vernon about the year 1710 when a bad style of architecture prevailed; many windows and doors, rooms small, many closets, few arched cellars, large stables and offices in full view, are marks of that time”.

When the heiress Emma Vernon (1754–1818) married Henry Cecil in 1776 Henry clearly was of the same opinion, as he remodelled the interior (other than the great hall) creating larger rooms and enlarging the north east pavilion. On the south facade, having removed a doorway he repositioned all the windows to lie under their first floor equivalent. On the south side there had been large formal gardens, clearly shown in Dougharty’s perspective drawing contained in the estate maps of the 1730s, and Cecil swept all these away (including the farm buildings in front of the Hall) and landscaped the park in the fashion of the time – he would have had contact with Capability Brown when being brought up by his uncle 9th Earl of Exeter at Burghley House.

Following Henry and Emma’s divorce in 1791 the contents were all sold, and the house remained empty until Henry’s death in 1804, when Emma and her third husband, John Phillips, were able to regain possession. As the house had lain unoccupied for so long, many repairs had to be carried out at that time. Emma died in 1818, and her husband married again and had two daughters in Hanbury before finally moving out in 1829, when Emma’s cousin Thomas Tayler Vernon (1792–1835) was able to occupy it. His grandson Harry Foley Vernon (1834-1920) was created 1st baronet, and was succeeded by his son Bowater, later Sir George Vernon (1865-1940), 2nd bart. Sir George led an unhappy life, separating from his wife Doris, and spending his last 10 years living with his secretary and companion Ruth Horton, who later changed her name by deed poll to Vernon. During this time the agricultural depression led to a reduction in rental income, and Hanbury Hall suffered a lack of care.

In poor health, Sir George Vernon took his own life in 1940, after which his estranged wife was able to move back in, dying there in 1962. In the meantime, negotiations had led to the National Trust having the reversion, and after making essential repairs on Lady Doris’s death, the hall was let to tenants and opened on a restricted basis. But in more recent times the hall has been managed more commercially, and is now open most of the year, and is very popular with visitors.

Washington's Birthday-Feb 22

Washington's Birthday-Feb 22

Federal Hall, of Greek Revival design, located at 26 Wall Street in NYC was completed in 1842, and used as the first Customs House. It sits on what was the original location of New York's City Hall, where George Washington was inaugurated first President of the United States on April 30, 1789.

It was here in City Hall, where John Peter Zenger, a printer, was jailed, and tried for libel, because he published a newspaper in 1733, The New York Weekly Journal which was highly critical of the corrupt British Governor of NY, William Cosby. The British Government described articles in the paper "...as having in them many things tending to raise the seditions and tumults among the people of this province, and to fill their minds with contempt for his Majesty's government." Laws at the time prohibited anyone from printing anything bad about the government. If you did, you would be jailed. Zenger sat in jail for 8 months awaiting trial.

His lawyer Andrew Hamilton, brother to the famous Alexander Hamilton, brilliantly defended Zenger by claiming that something is not libel, if it is true. He argued to the jury that, "The question before you is not the cause of a poor printer, nor of New York alone; it is the cause of liberty, the liberty of opposing arbitrary power by speaking and writing truth." He went on to say, "Freedom of speech is a principal pillar in a free government: when this support is taken away, the constitution is dissolved and tyranny erected on its ruins." The jury found Zenger not guilty, and he returned to freely publish his paper.

Fifty years following that trial, the First Congress met in Federal Hall to write the Bill of Rights, making part of the First Amendment, government protection of freedom of the press. In addition, the Departments of State, War and Treasury, and the Supreme Court were all created in this building.

Brompton cemetery - The burial of Richard Collins, Baron Collins

Brompton cemetery - The burial of Richard Collins, Baron Collins

This cross marks the burial of the Anglo-Irish lawyer and judge Richard Henn Collins, Baron Collins (1 January 1842 - 3 January 1911). He was judge at the first trial of Oscar Wilde and Master of the Rolls 1901-1907.

Brompton cemetery was one of the seven cemeteries created in the middle of the 19th century when the growing population of London made it evident there was much need for that. Brompton, originally known as the West of London and Westminster Cemetery, was opened for use in 1840 - the cemetery is still used up to this day as a burial place, but much more rarely nowadays, now it is much more commonly used as a public park to jog in or walk the dog (though preferably only using the paths where signs say it's allowed to walk your dog).

The plot of land was bought from Lord Kensington and prior it had been market gardens in the area, an area of 160 000 m2. The cemetery was designed by Benjamin Baud, which includes a domed chapel at one end, modelled after St Peter's in Rome, which is reached through long colonnades, with catacombs underneath. The catacombs were built to offer a cheaper way of burial, but it was not a success at all - only about 500 of the thousands of burial-spots in them were sold.

The writer Beatrix Potter grew up not far from the cemetery and she spent quite a lot of time at this place. It would inspire her in her writings, the colonnade is the walled gardens of Mr. McGregor and several of the names she used can be found on tomb-stones.

The place has also been the setting of several films, including The Wisdom of Crocodiles (also known as Immortality - starring Jude Law), Crush and Johnny English.

Life in the Fast Lane

Life in the Fast Lane

City workers grab a quick lunch bite in Leadenhall market. This is very British tradition, and anyone from shoe shine boys to local businessmen to City traders and lawyers can be found queuing at a stand such as this to grab a sandwitch or takeaway lunch to eat on the run or at their desk.

These food stalls set up their stands early every day from Monday to Friday, and do brisk business until early afternoon. Their food can be surprisingly good! I decided to try some steamed dumplings and a skewer of spicy prawns from this stall and enjoyed the dumplings, although in this case the prawns were cold and a little dry. The curries smelled delicious but I had just sampled several pastries from the Comptoir Gourmand ! (see below).

Meeting With Sasha II

Meeting With Sasha II

Meeting With Sasha II

Luke nods. " Wells & Forgoance Company. We are all lines. Life, Casualty, Property and Claims, with brokers to help with our securities and anuitiies."

As she exits the elevator, Sasha raises both eyebrows. God, she hates salespeople. It seems like even when they were not working, they stil try to sell you on something. Either water or the idea of going on a date. Then they use all kinds of techniques and what not to make your head spin and cave in to what they want. Urgh! She closes her eyes and walks across the wooden floor to her office. She has left it unlocked, knowing she would be back there soon. But normally it is locked and guarded. She is a privacy freak like that. Walking across to her desk and sat on the chair "I see. I'll let you know that from now on you should save the pitch." She looks up coldly through her glasses and then types the keyword on her computer quickly. "I'm not interested in buying. Don't have time for it. I have to meet with a doctor in a couple." Yes, a doctor that she is still trying to hook up with. Why not? single mom, and she was hot. She might as well try to get a husband out of it while youth is on her side. "So, what are we needing? A business account, the coporate package, business loan?" she raises an eyebrow at him as she lays both hands on the desk and leans forward, still not smiling.

Luke gives his cordial, disarming smile, "Just explaining the business, ma'am. While the company is a multi-billion entity, we still have to follow the regulations of the countries, states, and cities we seek to do business in. I believe it was either the business account or corporate package that were discussed as options."

Sasha turns her eyes from him to the computer. God, sales people and those smiles. For some reason it always has giveng her the shudders. The whole pretending everything worked just fine so you could buy from them. It reminds her of the Joker in Batman for some reason. She has to give it to them though. if there weren't people like that in the world, her business wouldn't work. so Thus, she plasters on a smile. Taking a deep breath as she lookS to the computer. She clicks here and there and finally pulls up his file on the computer. "Ah yes, here it is." Crossing her legs on top of the desk as she leaned backward. "Okay. So basically I have two choices for businesses. One is the simple business package. Just an account for your business to deposit money in, take out, and check writing. Nothing fancy. Then we have the corporate package, which is catered to the business owners in the city. We offer everything from book keeping, personal accountant, high security account, and lawyer representation when needed. It really would all depend on what you need, Mr. Heartsdale"

Luke considers the options for a moment. His smile is kept on his face. "Yes, I think the the corporate is a good suit. While we do have our own accountatnts and lawyers, it's good to have the security in place, as well as a good selection of local lawyers - just so we don't look too terribly much like a stone cold conglomerate with no local pulse. It's why we seek the branch, to keep that local feel to our agents who work in the trenches, so to speak." He gives a wink, and that usual self-assurance of his business.

Sasha raises both eyebrows at the wink and tries her best to smile. She isn't much for faking her feelings, but for the reason of working and making the company grow, she would try to. Try. She leans over and pulls out an application from one of the drawers, along with a contract. "very well, by signing here, you're giving permission for our corporation to manage the money and keep records of your spenidng, as well as a privacy clause. States basically that while you can withhold information from our corporation, we reserve the right to end the contract at any time if there's anything less than desirable going on." She pushes the other piece of paper forward. "And this is just your basic information about the business and yourself, to have in place."

[2010/10/17 19:15] Sash Arabello gave you Blackstone Corporate Application.

Luke looks over and signs the information. After signing, he hands it over to her, still keeping his smile. "It has been a pleasure to do business with you. Will look forward to future endeavors, and continued fortune with you Ms. Ivanisevic, and Blackstone in general."

Sasha smiles. "Of course Mr. Heartsdale, we will take 5% of your monthly revenue, as well as a two thousand dollar fee a month for this service, which as you know, is the finest in the city." She shrugs slightly with one shoulder. This to her is a fact, not an exaggeration of any sort. And to get the best, you have to pay. "You can leave the check with a receptionist within the next two to three days and then they wi

Tautog's Restaurant....

August 1st - 3rd was Summer VACA (Virginia Association of Commonwealth's Attorneys) conference. When I wasn't in class, we were at the beach or the Historic Cavalier Hotel. Built in 1927 it is the epitome of a classic "grand hotel." During the 1930's, 1940's, and 1950's, The Cavalier was the largest hirer of big bands in the world. Tomy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman, Xavier Cugat, Cab Calloway, Glen Miller, Lawrence Welk, and Bing Crosby were among the many who played at the Cavalier Beach Club.

Seven U.S. presidents have stayed at The Cavalier: Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, and Richard Nixon. Richard Nixon's favorite room at The Cavalier was the Hunt Room with its roaring fireplace. He didn't care if it was the middle of August he loved that fire roaring. Staff obliged and turned up the air conditioning. Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, and George Bush have each addressed audiences from podiums at The Cavalier.

Other famous guests include: F. Scott Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Will Rogers, Bette Davis, Jean Harlow, Mary Pickford, Betty Grable, and the infamous Fatty Arbuckle. When Fatty visited, he would rent an entire floor for his entourage. Hank Ketchum drew several "Dennis the Menace" cartoons based upon his family's stay at The Cavalier.

Many of the pictures are of the historic hotel, some are of the "New Cavalier" (built in the early 1970's and typical of the bad cliche' hotels that dominate the Virginia Beach oceanfront) and some are of restaurants / bars we visited while on this mini-vacation.
