A MAGIC CARPET RIDE LYRICS

This is a view of Washington Park in Macon, GA, converted to mono, shot from the Magnolia Street side. During the low water days of the last few years, the water in the park has been usually cut off, but at the time that this was taken, it was on. The park has looked this way since I was a child, and I think that it was built in the 30s during the depression by the WPA. This man built stream goes throughout the park with a small water fall at its source, culminating in a rectangular pool where children were allowed to swim with adult supervision during the summer months. The swimming stopped some years ago, possibly as a result of integration in the late 50s or 60s.
