8 X 10 WEDDING PHOTO ALBUM

I was excited to find a copy of Elliott Erwitt's book "Personal Exposures" in the local library. I just finished reading "1776" and am in the midst of Juan Williams book about the struggle to obtain civil rights, so thought it would be great to take a break and just look at photos. Ellen Erwitt was at UCSC and lived down the hall when I was there in 1973. I was amazed when she showed me the photo her father had made of her as a baby on the bed between her cat and her mom, and then told me that it was the same one that was in the "Family of Man" exhibition. I turned to that image first and was stunned to see that someone had ripped the previous page out of the book.
I spoke to a librarian today and admitted that I was curious what the images were that were removed, and that my thoughts turned to the Nazi's.
She told me it was probably something more mundane like an image someone wanted for a tattoo.
There is a copy machine in the library, it seems like everyone has a digital camera or cell phone that could have copied the photos, so I still think the reason the page was removed was more sinister.
