Firefox thinks it's in the dictionary so I'll go with it). She woke up a couple times last night, no repeat performance of the sleeping through the night. Also this morning she waited to wake up until Brandi got up again. She was pretty growly all morning. Today however I think it's her bowels. I dunno if it's the whole new food thing or what but I decided to give her prunes again with breakfast. She crabbed it up all morning until we went on a walk. I got a cheque in the mail from work. Finance apparently *still* has my old address despite me complaining about it to them when my paternity leave stuff went to the wrong place. It got sent back to finance who then just mailed it to my office who then mailed it to me...you know I thought I was all direct deposit, I wonder what happened. Anyways we went for a walk so I could deposit the cheque. We also walked up to the sandwich place and grabbed a salami, roasted red pepper, edam cheese, and pesto mayo sandwich...mmmmm and headed back home. As we got close to home Isobel started sleeping and I kept having to say her name to keep her awake. I also crossed the street at a street corner and got yelled at by a garbage man who asked me what I was doing? Uh crossing where I was supposed to. You were far enough away that you wouldn't hit me, what are you doing? Crazy drivers. Got home and put Isobel down for a nap. She slept until I was about to finish my conversation with Brandi reporting she was on her way home. We played until she got home. Brandi had cooked us up some chicken stew yesterday using Robyn's recipie we stole after going on our camping trip last year and baked up some scissor rolls. It was bath night and just us Snow's in the tub as Brandi had showered earlier. Brandi vacuumed and washed the lino in our apartment since Isobel's been crawling around on it and it hasn't been done in a while. Isobel had a rough time going down again which I'm hoping means another sleep through. We'll see. I even got to play some GTA4, I completed probably 4 missions before bed time. I try not to play it when Isobel's up and about as it's pretty violent. We're going to try and limit the amount of violence she watches (honestly try and limit the amount of time she uses the TV for entertainment) but not be as weird about the sex and nudity (oh man, just writing that will probably get me a pile of hits now) so much. At what age does a baby roll over - Baby movement at 14 weeks At What Age Does A Baby Roll Over
34/365 Polaroid A Polaroid Picture a Day Year 1 020309 34/365 Fever 103 Pure? What does it mean? The tongues of hell Are dull, dull as the triple Tongues of dull, fat Cerebus Who wheezes at the gate. Incapable Of licking clean The aguey tendon, the sin, the sin. The tinder cries. The indelible smell Of a snuffed candle! Love, love, the low smokes roll From me like Isadora's scarves, I'm in a fright One scarf will catch and anchor in the wheel. Such yellow sullen smokes Make their own element. They will not rise, But trundle round the globe Choking the aged and the meek, The weak Hothouse baby in its crib, The ghastly orchid Hanging its hanging garden in the air, Devilish leopard! Radiation turned it white And killed it in an hour. Greasing the bodies of adulterers Like Hiroshima ash and eating in. The sin. The sin. Darling, all night I have been flickering, off, on, off, on. The sheets grow heavy as a lecher's kiss. Three days. Three nights. Lemon water, chicken Water, water make me retch. I am too pure for you or anyone. Your body Hurts me as the world hurts God. I am a lantern --- My head a moon Of Japanese paper, my gold beaten skin Infinitely delicate and infinitely expensive. Does not my heat astound you. And my light. All by myself I am a huge camellia Glowing and coming and going, flush on flush. I think I am going up, I think I may rise --- The beads of hot metal fly, and I, love, I Am a pure acetylene Virgin Attended by roses, By kisses, by cherubim, By whatever these pink things mean. Not you, nor him. Not him, nor him (My selves dissolving, old whore petticoats) --- To Paradise. -Sylvia Plath Day 29 (excuse flickr over sharpening!) It's funny how one little baby can grow so much in 28 weeks or 202 days. From a newborn 7lb 13oz baby, Willow has grown, so, so big. She has hair - lots more hair then Lily ever had at the same age. She has a voice - not too loud yet but there is no doubt she'll catch up to the other two in the not too distant future. She has chub, glorious chub. She has big toes and she does this thing where she separates her big toe from all the others - quite bizarre. She wears size 00, weighs around 7kgs and in the past 29 days has embraced food like none of my other kids did. She adores eating. She's such a content girl that when she's upset or cranky I find myself more anxious in trying to figure out what is wrong. She has beautiful blue eyes and a cute button nose. She still doesn't roll over and God knows when she will. She's a slow, easy going little miss. I love her. BABY GIRL NAME STARTING WITH S. UNISEX BABY NAMES 2011 Baby Girl Name Starting With S
Girl A random girl from my dream... A killer I guess you could say.... She scared me so bad, I thought I was going to die. I know Ivy and Coco know about this dream... I hope it doesn't come back. I had a bad feeling though. We were going out to eat and there was news that some young girl was killing people whenever they looked at her. It was unknown where she was going next no one really knew about her. But we were going to go eat at some place that changed it's name and foods a lot. It was mixed with a weird casino place. Once we got our foods and sat down there was screaming and the little girl was there. I didn't see her, but I knew it was her because someone screamed and died. That meant they saw her. She was quicker then lightning it seemed like. D: What did I do? I ran under the table closing my eyes thinking "Don't open your eyes until the screaming is gone! Don't open them or your going to die!". I remember she looked at me and ran off. Go thing I didn't run. D: Bad choice to chose with her. Then it switched to this little girls point of view. (I wasn't the little girl. <:D) Then someone told her "Don't look back...Don't look back!" and she looks back! Then she died from the girl's knife or some kind of blade. D: Then the brother saw it luckily he was wearing a mask (the mask didn't make the girl attack you as fast from some reason, also if you were in a robot or somewhat mutated that would help you as well to avoid death from her). I remember that the girl and the younger girl's brother started to fight, but none were able to hit each other. Then the girl ran off and I remember the brother running over to his sister trying to save her, but he wasn't able to. The girl ran toward the casino I think it was. I remember some mutated animals and people ran off and she just ran past them. People were running about all the place. Then I saw a point of view of some lady who was my teacher and her son arguing. I figured out later he wanted to stopped the girl from killing others and he had a robot suit or something. He didn't die, but the lady (that was his Mom) did. Once he left she saw the girl right behind her. Later on once the chaos was gone I ran out of there frighten. D: I met up with some person who SAID he had a plan to end it he said "If this young girl can take out adults and people with great skills why don't we send in younger people to take care of her... Like babies!" o.o' I was trying to talk the guy out of this dumb plan. These our young kids they need to live there life not fight against this. I just remember me and the guy arguing and I woke up in the middle of the night. I this she was possessed or something. She had no emotinal or feeling it seemed. Something was not right with her though. Mommie's Lovey girl Lovey is a rescue cat from Hearts & Paws shelter in New Jersey. Lovey was found on the streets of Camden. She is missing her left eye from trauma to her face most likely from when she was on the streets. An older lady rescued her and named her Baby Love Bug. I adopted her after my Mom had adopted another cat from this shelter and told me about this lil' girl. She is the sweetest cat and is so very lovable. I know why her rescuer named her Baby Love Bug. When I adopted her I couldn't use the word Baby in her name because Peanut's (her dog sister) toys all start with the word Baby, i.e. Baby puppy, Baby bear, etc. I called her Love Bug for a while but she was so lovable I just started calling her Lovey. She has such a beautiful gentle soul and wants to love and be loved by her animal sisters and mommy. She watches my lips when I talk to her and tell her how much I love her. She wants to give kisses all the time. Such a sweet girl!! Down, Down, Down: A Journey to the Bottom of the Sea Caldecott Honor–winning Steve Jenkins provides a top-to-bottom look at the ocean, from birds and waves to thermal vents and ooze. Half the earth’s surface is covered by water more than a mile deep, but most of this watery world is a mystery to us. In fact, more people have stood on the surface of the moon than have visited the deepest spot in the ocean. Come along as we travel down, down, down, from the surface to the bottom of the sea. Along the way you can see jellyfish that flash like a neon sign, creatures with teeth so big, they can’t close their mouths, and even a squid as long as a bus, which battles to the death with a sperm whale, the largest predator on earth. It’ll be a journey you won’t soon forget! Caldecott honoree Steve Jenkins offers young readers a quietly stunning story about the world below the watery surface in Down, Down, Down: A Journey to the Bottom of the Sea. With his incredible paper collage illustrations of sea creatures and informative text, Jenkins manages to plumbs the unfathomable depths of our oceans for the age 5-9 set in this perfect read-aloud and look closely book. Down, Down, Down captures the vastness, complexity and mysteriousness of the deep without over-simplifying the new research and astonishing discoveries. This oceanography lesson unfolds as a story in which the reader descends from the blue surface down nearly 36,000 feet (that’s seven miles down!) to the Marianas Trench, while meeting Flying Squids and Loosejaw Stoplight Fish along the way. This is an enchanting and informative choice for kids who loved the classic illustrations of Eric Carle, Lois Ehlert and Leo Lionni as pre-schoolers, but are ready to bump up to a nonfiction read. Children’s book collectors will surely want to get their hands on Down Down Down, too. --Lauren Nemroff Product Description Caldecott Honor-winning Steve Jenkins provides a top-to-bottom look at the ocean, from birds and waves to thermal vents and ooze. It'll be a journey you won't soon forget! A Look Inside Down, Down, Down (Click on Images to Enlarge) Soft BodiesTurn Up the Heat A Q&A with Steve Jenkins, Author of Down, Down, Down Q: How much research was involved in the creation of the book? A: Lot's--I read ten or twelve books about ocean exploration and biology, borrowed or bought dozens of others with photos and illustrations of ocean animals, watched all of the BBC ocean-related TV productions (Blue Planet, Planet Earth, The Living Planet, The Life of Mammals--I feel like David Attenborough is my good friend). And of course I did a lot of internet research. So many deep-ocean discoveries are recent, and lots of things haven't made their way into print yet, at least not into books that I could find. There are a lot of high-quality web sites associated with universities or research organizations. One of the hardest parts was figuring out where to do the descent, once I'd decided to do a surface to sea floor journey. I wanted the water temperature, geology and animal life to be accurate for that specific location. Ultimately, I realized that if we were going to go on this trip, we really had to end up in the deepest spot in the sea. Q: What was the most surprising thing you learned while working on Down, Down, Down? A: Probably the thing that got me interested in the first place--the fact that we know so little about the oceans. The longest mountain range in the world--the mid-ocean ridge, which runs for more than 40,000 miles-- was unknown until the 1960s. There are undoubtedly large, still unknown life forms in the oceans. Q: Which animal was the most challenging to construct? A: The siphonophore--both lights on and lights off. Q: What do you think accounts for both adults' and kids' long-abiding fascination with the ocean and its creatures? A: As a species, we are intrigued with the unknown. It's one reason we've done so well, and inhabit almost every corner of the globe (at least where there's dry land). I think it's the fact that the ocean is at once so inviting (think: a nice day at the beach or a pleasant sailboat trip) and so terrifying (a storm at sea; the dark, cold depths and frightening creatures) makes it especially fascinating. And many of those deep-sea creatures are beyond anything we'd imagined. Q: Are there certain things a parent/teacher/adult can do to keep the love of science alive in kids? As a parent, what do you do to encourage that love and curiosity in your own children? A: Listen to their questions, and if you don’t know the answer, look it up together. Buy lots of nonfiction books! Or get them at the library, and read them together. Like so many things--diet, physical activity, a love of art or music--children pay more attention to what we do than what we say. So the first step in encouraging a love of science in children might be to cultivate an interest in it ourselves. And there is so much going on right now, so many amazing things being discovered, that it's not hard to become interested. Our family watches lots of nature programs, such as Richard Attenborough's BBC-produced documentaries. They are a great entry point to natural science. The Albion, tucked away in a quiet backwater of Clifton, off Boyce’s Avenue, has all the character of a village inn, though a busy main road is just around the corner. There is no definite record of the date of its erection but the connection with Boyce is inescapable. In 1763, Thomas Boyce acquired the land from Isaac Elton of Clifton and by June 20th 1772 he was ready to insert a notice in Felix Farley ‘s Journal ~ informing the public that he had completely fitted up 'three large and elegant lodging houses on Clifton Hill.' The career of Thomas Boyce was typical of many speculative builders in Bristol at the end of the eighteenth century. He was earning a respectable living as a peruke-maker (wig maker) in King Street when he decided to speculate in the property market during the hey day of the Bristol Hotwell. The opening up of the fashionable Hotwell Spa had created a demand for accommodation for the wealthy visitors who flocked there for the season, so Boyce spent some ?8,000 on these 'elegant lodging houses', to be known as Boyce’s Buildings. Originally, the three double-fronted houses, almost certainly designed by Thomas Paty the Bristol architect and stone mason, formed a handsome and uniform range. Today they still stand to the right of the Albion, at the head of Regent Street. There are now shops over the original gardens but if you stop in Princess Victoria Street and view these houses from a distance you can appreciate their splendid design, with the monogram T.S.B. and the date on the tympanum of the pediment of the central house. The whole range, at the time of writing, is being restored, though the extensive gardens have been lost forever. Boyce spent so much money on the original project that he went bankrupt and when the property came to be sold by auction in February 1773 it was described as being 'Three capital, substantial and commodious messuages, having a Terras or grand walk, extending the whole length of the Buildings; grass slopes, gravel, and grass slopes in Front, a Pavement walk and Pleasure Garden, 3 Summer Houses or Tea Rooms, 5 stables containing 74 stalls.' Well, the terrace and grass slopes have gone but the Albion remains, a link with the heady days of the Hotwell Spa at its height. We have no actual record of the date of the erection of the inn but it is reasonable to suppose that it was built about this time, and by Boyce. The deeds throw up an interesting point about its construction. When the Cordeux family sold the inn to Bristol United Breweries in 1901 there was some discussion about the height of the inn. Apparently when Boyce bought the land the Conveyance specified 'that he shall not build or erect any stable, coachhouse or other building on the backward part of any messuage which shall be built or erected thereon which shall exceed in height in the roof thereof of twelve feet.' Yet, 'the said Albion Tavern was erected in contravention of the said covenant and constituted a breach of the said covenant but no objections were ever raised.' It looks as though this early attempt to enforce a planned uniformity of building failed and we are left with this unique Albion. The inn is approached by a short cobbled roadway, just nine feet wide, which widens towards a frontage that occupies the whole width of a cul-de-sac. In Summer, its Clifton patrons can sit outside this unique inn which has the only instance in Bristol of anything approaching an external courtyard. The level flagstones mark the extent of the original property and a small portion iif the old front wall remains. On either side of the yard are stables which are not open to the public. The larger one has the original loft where servants wouid sleep and the old feed boxes and cobbled stone floor, complete with a channel for excess water, are still there. The stable is now used as a store room; travellers on horseback are something of a rarity in twentieth century Clifton. Although the inn presents the same basic appearance externally as it did in the eighteenth century, there have been some inevitable 'improvements'. The sash windows have been cut away and vertical bars inserted. The lights to the public bar and doorway are also of a later date. The inn was extensively renovated in 1956 when it was closed for five months. The licence however was held in abeyance, the first time that this had been allowed by the Bristol licensing justices. The name, Albion, was probably given to the inn in honour of a local ship. There was a ship of two hundred tons owned by Davis and Protheroe built at the Bristol dockyards in 1778 called the Albion ~ and this could have been the origin of the inn’s name, which it has retained for over two hundred years. The archway to the left of the inn leads to Victoria Square begun in 1837 and named after the new young Queen Victo The best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear-Elf *Explore[d]* Thats one of my favorite Christmas Movies Its so funny xD I also the Grinch with Jim Carrey Look at silly ol' Jasper all happy pappy cuz I have a treat thats the only reason xD So we went shopping today and I spent like 40 dollars on my babies I got all their presents Niko kept trying to take them x] He's such a silly trouble maker I was so suprised by him today when we went to Petsmart today he actaully let people come up to him and pet him. Tiny Love Gymini Bouncer, Blue/Yellow The Gymini® Bouncer is way more than a comfy seat to plop your baby in: it's a comprehensive activity environment, equipped with a variety of exciting activities and engaging toys. During the first weeks of life, baby's eyesight is poor. Keep the toys close to baby, so they can observe their shapes and color contrasts. To create a comfortable, safe surrounding for baby, set the seat to the most reclined position, and close the arches. Between 4-5 months, baby can now enjoy the bouncer in full. Keep your baby entertained and comfortable with the TINY LOVE Gymini Bouncer. The bouncer's multisensory environment features a wealth of colors, textures, and sounds to delight babies and help develop their senses. Three colorful hanging toys can be moved along two adjustable arches to entertain, while a reclined position and a vibrating seat help soothe and relax your baby. Parents will appreciate the easy installation, the vibrant colors, the multiple positions and, most of all, the moveable arches that allows them to get their baby in and out of the bouncer easily. Engages your child with a wealth of colors, textures, and sounds. View larger. Bouncer with Unique Adjustable Arches Designed to delight both babies and parents, the Gymini Bouncer's unique adjustable arches allow parents to bring the toys close to their baby in the early months, when vision is limited. Later, the arches can be opened up and the toys can be moved along them, encouraging babies to reach for the toys and helping develop their motor skills and hand-eye coordination. These adjustable arches attach securely at the top and bottom of the bouncer chair. You can widen the arches to make it easier to get your baby in and out of the bouncer, or you can move the arches closer together when your baby is a newborn. Placing the arches further apart with the hanging toys attached helps develop your baby's fine motor skills. You can also remove the arches altogether when your baby is napping. Safe, Relaxing, and Comfortable for Baby Made from quality materials, the Gymini Bouncer stands securely with its non-slip feet and sturdy legs. The safety belt keeps your little one securely in the seat, while the soothing vibrations create a calming environment. It sets up quickly, making it convenient to move from space to space. To keep your baby comfortable while sleeping and playing, the bouncer has a soft, cozy seat and offers two reclining positions. The fabric also features a colorful jungle scene with fun animals your child will enjoy. Engaging Toys for Hours of Fun The bouncer includes a soft hippo hanging toy, a set of leaf-shaped teething rings, and an electronic crab, all of which can clip onto the arches for your baby to play with. Babies can pull the hippo toy and see it wobble back into place. As they grow older, they can make use of the leaf-shaped teething rings. Both the hippo and teething rings can move up and down the arches. The brightly-colored electronic crab can latch onto one or both of the arches. By securing the crab to both arches, you can position it right in front of your baby within easy reach. Babies can activate the crab's lights and music by touching the dangling star for a fun and developmentally stimulating experience. The Gymini Bouncer's arches also support other rattles and teethers in the Tiny Smart Assortment (sold separately), so you can mix and match with your baby's other TINY LOVE favorites. But she'll always make time for her business partner, Lisa, who's in the midst of preparing for a big family reunion. Everyone is delighted when Lisa's long-lost uncle makes a surprise appearance. No one has heard from Gus in twenty-five years. Uncle Gus is immediately the hit of the reunion. He's almost as popular as Hannah's scrumptious carrot cake, which is also Gus' favourite dessert. But the next morning, as the whole family gathers for the group photo, one person is missing. Hannah offers to track down Uncle Gus, but her search leads to a shocking find. Over by the bar at the pavilion, she spots two slices of her infamous carrot cake, frosting-side down on the floor - and Gus' corpse with an ice pick jutting out of his chest! Now Hannah's got to sift through a long list of suspects to find a killer - even if it could mean a recipe for her own demise... 82% (15) 365/278 The best cooking tip you'll ever get from me OK, maybe the only cooking tip you'll ever get from me. I have a great recipe for carrot cake (from the original Silver Palate cookbook) that calls for pureed carrots. The first few times I made it, I sweated over the boiling water, carrots, cuisinart, all just to get some pureed carrots. Since the lightbulb went off in my head, I've been using baby food carrots. The ingredients in baby food carrots? Carrots and water. I've never noticed a difference in the taste of the cake, and it's a lot more fun to make now too. Carrot Cuffins Would you say no to the luscious, moist concoction that is my "Can't Say No Carrot Cake"? Vegan, filled with coconut (shreds and flour), flaxseed, pineapple, oats and carrot baby food (!), it is a seriously punchy snack. HOW TO MAKE A BABY COME FASTER. BABY SHOWER CARD CONGRATULATIONS. How To Make A Baby Come Faster
The Shadows of Justice I hadn't thought about those bastards for a while. I really had wanted just to put the whole thing out of my mind. Forgetting about it would be my salvation. Knowing what I knew... seeing what I'd seen... it changed the way I looked at life. I knew it was all so much more bullshit than anyone would ever have believed. The whole sordid episode was so far in the back of my head along with all of the other bullshit that surrounded the scandal that I was actually starting to see the world as a better place again. That felt good. When the phone rang I noticed it was my mother on the caller I.D. I hadn't even got a 'hello' out when I hear her say 'have you heard the news?' It's been a while since I've paid attention to the news... it all seems bad lately... it kinda bums me out... 'No... I haven't heard the news' I said... pretty much expecting to hear about some fresh tragedy or other. 'They indicted them... just now... the feds charged them... it was on the radio.' 'Aw fuck' I thought. I was supposed to get some kind of advance warning... a couple of hours at least... maybe enough to arrange a quick little 'vacation' to an 'unknown location.' I wasn't ready to deal with the media. Those dudes are sharks man. You ever find yourself in the middle of a history making scandal and you'll see just how they behave. The thing was... I knew what a lot of the media didn't know... There was a lot more 'history' to be made. I knew because I'd already written it. I knew that they hadn't come close to exposing the enormity of the story even though I'd given them everything. I knew there was a lot more for them to figure out. I was actually hoping my name was long forgotten. Not a chance. That's like hoping that the IRS will forget that you owe them money. None of the stories in the 'first wave' mentioned me... and that was a little bit of a relief. I knew though... I knew how it worked now... I knew it'd only be a matter of time before the initial story petered out and the media would be there digging deeper. It was only a matter of time. All I could hope for was that the 'second wave' of stories died down... that would show me that the 'media cycle' was waning. If the next days stories dug deeper... my life was gonna get difficult really fast. I wasn't ready for this. It had been almost three years since I blew the whistle. And even then... it took me a couple of months of effort to convince the feds that it was really happening. I had no idea back then how this stuff worked. I mean... where do you find the number for the guy you gotta talk to when the government is killing hundreds... maybe thousands of people? It ain't in the phonebook... I can tell you that. Three years of nothing but silence from the feds... three years of putting my life and my family's life back together... and they hand up the indictments without even telling me they were coming. Those guys were as tight as a drum... I mean absolutely tight... there was never a leak out of the US Attorney's office. Not one. Man... the shit was about to hit the fan and I didn't even have half a chance to duck it. My nerves calmed down a little bit after I'd read the news on the computer... There were almost two hundred stories on the wire in newspapers around the country after only a few hours. It was amazing how the media could be such sharks on one hand and then not ask the most obvious and deserved questions on the other hand. Nobody ever asked what the two officials who were indicted had to gain from doing it. That's the first freakin' question that I would ask. Sometimes I forget that it's a tough case to understand. I forget that I know what's happened because I figured it out three years ago. These people murdered innocent people. Lots of them. And no one talks about all the babies that died... all of the miscarriages and spontaneous abortions... Nobody except the women in that town... and even they only talk about it in whispers. I don't know how much of the truth I know... but I know that what I know 'is the truth.' And I know that the government that's supposed to protect us and our families... they don't seem too interested in the truth. I had a sneaking suspicion that they'd throw the heads of a couple of low level officials on a platter to show the masses that they gave a flying fuck about them... but It was pretty obvious to me that the feds weren't interested in 'the truth.' That's because 'the truth' would shock a whole bunch of people... it'd get the very masses they were trying to appease all riled up. That's why I wrote 'the truth' down a long time ago... I made copies of it and gave it to the right people. I blew that whistle three years ago because I had proof of what they were doing. And it took me a long time... way too long... to convince the government that they should do something about it. I knew it was murder from the moment I figured it all out. COLD BLOODED MURDER. Thank You For Your Service This guy is my uncle. He joined the Navy in 1945 to fight in World War II. Poor bastard. We dropped a couple atom bombs on Japan before he could see action. Peace treaties are a bitch. Luckily, we never run out of wars. A few years later, he re-upped to serve in Korea. He loved the Navy. But he never talked about fighting or killing. Instead, he told stories about all the places he saw. As a kid, I figured going to war was like going on vacation with a gun. He stayed in the Navy for a while. But first came a baby daughter. Then a boy. His civilian wife who wanted a civilian life dry docked him. Still, he stayed in the reserves to travel to places like Spain and Japan. In the early 1970s, he worked in Iran, teaching the shah's pilots how to fly jets. He got out just before all hell broke loose. Back home again, he drove trucks. Worked on supermarket loading docks. And took just about any job he could. That's the way it is for most vets. They return to the states and blend into the crowd. At least the lucky ones do. Today, more soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan are missing arms or legs. They come home to family and friends brain damaged from shrapnel and bullet wounds to their heads. And nearly all of them suffer emotional injuries that they won't or can't show to the rest of the world. But they can't hide. Even though most of us try not to look too long or hard at them. During the past five years, more than 27,000 Americans have suffered war wounds that will never heal. Injuries that will leave them physically and emotionally crippled for the rest of their days on this planet. So many are young men and women who will never drive a car again. They won't be able to dress themselves each morning. And they will never hold their babies in their arms. And the very best we can do is say "Thank you." You give a waiter or waitress more than that for serving you a plate of soggy spaghetti at Pizza Hut. The Penguin Classic Baby Name Book: 2,000 Names from the World's Great Literature If you are like most expectant parents you are looking for that special name with special meaning. A name with a legacy, a name for the ages. What better place to look for a name for your child than in literature? "The Penguin Classic Baby Name Book" is divided into sections of boy names and girls names; entries list names alphabetically and include information on origin and meaning, as well as variations and, most important, literary namesakes. In the entry for Julia (Latin, "youthful"), for example, we meet Jane Austen's Julia Bertram of "Mansfield Park", two Trollope Julias of a "certain age", Wilkie Collins's strong-minded Lady Julia Verinder of "The Moonstone", as well as Juliana, a Yulia, a Julie -Strindberg's "Miss" - and Shakespeare's Juliet (who, of course, famously pondered, "What's in a name?"). Throughout the book are sidebars with mini essays about literary characters and naming trends, as well as pointed quotations from the books themselves. And there is an index of authors, if you want to name your son after Juliet's hotheaded cousin in "Romeo and Juliet" but can't remember his name. 86% (16) Flag of My Fathers - Thanks For Coming To Texas Great Grandpa On one side of her family, Baby Kylee's Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather (My Grandfather's Great Grandfather) Timothy Mayhall walked and rode, with his family to the Republic of Texas from Ohio in 1845, settling on 160 acres of land at what is now Little Road and Kelly Elliot Road in Fort Worth, Tarrant County Texas. This was from the moment I heard it more than 25 years ago my most favorite song, ever. Somehow it became my ex-wife's favorite too... she had a knack for 'stealing' everything of mine, literally. Today, this morning, taking my Liberty (pictured above) for a R-I-D-E to 'work', (she's a registered service animal and I volunteer her as a 'Therapy Dog', today at a Rehabilitation Hospital in Englewood, Colorado) I heard 'my' song. I have not been able to listen to it since the divorce a few years ago. I never thought I could again... then today, it came on the iPod and instead of skipping it, I left it be... I got it back! In the car I was singing SO loud... Liberty was howling along, she does this when I sing, it's cute... Anyway.. I am proud to say my camera has not come out of [M] Manual mode in almost 5 months now. This picture was taken before then, when I had only had my Canon for about a week, if that, and barely knew how to even work the shutter button. Dixie Belle Introducing the newest southern redneck chick in our family..... DIXIE BELLE! This is Christina's new baby. After all of the love and care (and extraordinary expense) of adopting Waylon and nursing him back to health from parvo, he died in a tragic freak accident. Christina decided that she was ready for a new puppy, so here is Dixie Belle, a 3 month old registered black lab. She came to live with us this weekend. I thought I was going to get an empty nest this year but instead it keeps getting fuller and fuller. She was more interested in jumping in my lap and eating them camera than sitting for a picture so this is the best I could do. And yes, she needs a bath but it has been raining and she keeps running out into the rain every time I open the door. lens: Canon 50mm f/1.4 pictures of baby black labs Labrador Retriever: All About the Labrador Dog, from Labrador Puppy Training to Labrador Dog Types and Labrador Puppies and Kids Contents include: Chapter 1: How To Pick The Perfect Labrador Puppy Chapter 2: Naming Your Labrador Puppy Chapter 3: Kids And Puppies Chapter 4: Basic Puppy Training Techniques Chapter 5: Proper Discipline For Puppies Chapter 6: Crate Training For The Labrador Puppy Chapter 7: Getting The Labrador Puppy His Own ID Chapter 8: Socialization Of Your Labrador Puppy Chapter 9: Labrador Puppy Development Chapter 10: Nutrition For Puppies Chapter 11: Your Vet: The Perfect Resource To Educate You About Your Labrador's Diet Chapter 12: Labrador Puppy Health And Giving Medicine Chapter 13: Why Is Pet Grooming Important Chapter 14: First Vet Visits Chapter 15: List Of Top Three Hypoallergenic Dogs Chapter 16: What To Do If You Have Trouble Training Your Labrador Labrador Retriever: All About the Labrador Dog, from Labrador Puppy Training to Labrador Dog Types and Labrador Puppies and Kids Contents include: Chapter 1: How To Pick The Perfect Labrador Puppy Chapter 2: Naming Your Labrador Puppy Chapter 3: Kids And Puppies Chapter 4: Basic Puppy Training Techniques Chapter 5: Proper Discipline For Puppies Chapter 6: Crate Training For The Labrador Puppy Chapter 7: Getting The Labrador Puppy His Own ID Chapter 8: Socialization Of Your Labrador Puppy Chapter 9: Labrador Puppy Development Chapter 10: Nutrition For Puppies Chapter 11: Your Vet: The Perfect Resource To Educate You About Your Labrador's Diet Chapter 12: Labrador Puppy Health And Giving Medicine Chapter 13: Why Is Pet Grooming Important Chapter 14: First Vet Visits Chapter 15: List Of Top Three Hypoallergenic Dogs Chapter 16: What To Do If You Have Trouble Training Your Labrador Similar posts: sippy cup for baby baby toy cleaner best humidifier for babies baby alive refills boy and girl twin babies pink green baby bedding babys girl pink and brown baby nursery baby alive boy clothes baby shower party favor tags |

About the work Title: Crucifixion Art form: 2-D Medium: Stained glass mosaic Year created: 2011 Description of work: Having done works for four churches in the last two years, it was an honor to be asked to create the altarpiece for the new Saint Kilian's Catholic church in Orange County, California. After experiencing construction delays, I decided to commence the work and enter the 9' x 13' stained glass mosaic into Artprize. I am very excited to share my first altarpiece with Grand Rapids. I created this design by photographing my model in the woods of Santa Cruz, California, tied to a huge cross made of Home Depot beams, and wearing a crown of thorns crafted from a Michael's wreath. By layering this imagery with two sunsets I photographed in Italy and Hawaii, I was able to compose the powerful light sources so relevant to this and all of my work. This "Crucifixion" took 2500 hours, is made of hand-cut stained glass, is attached to a custom wood structure and weighs 425 lbs. I drove Him across country by myself in two sections in a Penske truck. art prize 2011 top 10 art prize 2011 grand rapids at night artprize top 10 The Metaphorest project Artist bio Tracy Van Duinen was co-lead for the 2nd place 2009 Artprize entry Imagine That. SIX MONTH BABY MILESTONES - BABY P MURDERERS - MY BABY PICS. Six Month Baby Milestones
UNHCR News Story: Repatriation of 1972 Burundian Refugees hits 50,000 Mark The 50,000th returnee, a baby girl called Happiness, poses with her parents and relatives around the bicycle presented by UNHCR. © UNHCR/E.Seleli Repatriation of 1972 Burundian Refugees hits 50,000 Mark. KATUMBA, Tanzania, September 15 (UNHCR) – The repatriation of Burundian refugees from three special settlements in western Tanzania has passed the 50,000 mark. The milestone was reached on Sunday when 496 returnees crossed the border into Burundi, which many of them fled in 1972 to escape ethnic violence. UNHCR and its local partners organized a small ceremony in the Katumba settlement to honour the 50,000th returnee: an 11-month-old baby girl called Happiness. Her parents, both farmers born and raised in the refugee settlement, were given a new bicycle to take with them to Burundi. Her father, Fanuel Justin Kigomyi, was delighted with the unexpected gift. "I'll take care of the bicycle until my daughter can ride it to school. If life back in Burundi proves to be very tough, I will sell the bicycle to pay her school fees," he said, as traditional Burundian drums beat in the background. For many of the so-called 1972 Burundian refugees, returning home after so long in Katumba or Tanzania's two other so-called "old settlements" is a major challenge. Many face problems reclaiming their land and UNHCR provides them with temporary shelter and supports the peaceful mediation of their disputes. As for landless returnees, the government and its UN partners help them settle in special rural integrated villages, six of which have been opened in 2008 and 2009. Under a landmark programme launched by UNHCR and the Tanzanian government in March 2008, some 55,000 refugees from Katumba, Mishamo and Ulyankulu settlements decided to return to Burundi. With 50,000 now back home, the remaining 5,000 are expected to return to Burundi in the coming months. A further 162,000 opted under the programme for local integration and the chance of citizenship. "Assisted voluntary return, organized by UNHCR in cooperation with the governments of Tanzania and Burundi, is part of an ambitious but realistic solutions strategy to end one of the world's most protracted refugee situations," said Yacoub El Hillo, UNHCR's representative in Tanzania. Kuriye Kasagamba, a middle-aged Burundian, was among those at the Katumba ceremony waiting to go home. He clung possessively to a faded, battered suitcase, which his father purchased in Burundi 41 years ago. "A few years later, war erupted and my parents were forced to flee. This suitcase contained all they could take with them. As the first-born I inherited this case and today I'm finally able to take it back to Burundi, together with all my souvenirs and memories from Tanzania." He, Happiness and the other returnees were later taken by train to the Lake Tanganyika port of Kigoma, where they boarded buses and trucks for the journey to the border. At Gitara transit centre inside Burundi, they underwent a medical check and were given an aid package to facilitate their reintegration, including cash, food and household items. UNHCR will take them with their belongings to villages and towns in Bururi, Makamba and Rutana provinces. The 1972 refugees, who were self-sufficient in the old settlements, differ from those who fled from Burundi to Tanzania in the 1990s and were mainly hosted in refugee camps in the Kigoma and Kagera regions. With the return of relative peace, many have decided to return. Since 2002, more than 430,000 of these camp refugees have returned to Burundi. A further 36,000 are in Mtabila, the only remaining camp for Burundian refugees in Tanzania. By Edwin Seleli in Katumba and Eveline Wolfcarius in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania Ba oi ba! March 24, 2009 = Six months! One day, when she was about five and a half months, I started playing with her lower lip and jaw. I used my thumb or index finger to press her lower lip to the upper. While trying to keep her mouth closed, I'd say, "MmmmmBa (or simply 'Ba')," forcing the lower lip open to coincide with me saying "Ba!" She would either smiled, ignored me or got irritated. During the next couple of days, much of her grunts and screams were replaced with "MmmmmVa" or "Vba!" It didn't dawn on me what she was saying was a direct result of me playing with her lip. Instead, I thought she was making a rather quick transition from grunting to actually trying to say something. I actually heard her saying something like, "Ba oi ba," which translates to a "Daddy, daddy" call. Because of my absentmindedness, I stopped teaching her how to talk. As a result, she went back to the grunts and screams the next week. Even as I tried to say, "MmmmmBa!" or "Ba!" she would not repeat. Of course, by now, the light has already turned on in my head. I started the thumb and lip exercise again and voila, she started saying "MmmmmBa!" or "Ba!" again! Of course, I moved on to "MmmmmMa!" or "Ma, ma!" but for some reason, ma has been more difficult, though she has said it. I don't know at what month babies learn words such as dada, mama, look, etc. but for all intent and purposes, I've taught my daughter to say "ba" and to some extent ma. I imagine that I could have taught her even earlier. As for recognition and association, that would be a milestone that would be difficult for me to distinguish, wouldn't it? At the moment, it's hilarious that at times, when she's placed in her crib, she'd start saying "Ba!" continuously as though she doesn't like it and wants out of there. SCHEDULE FOR 4 MONTH OLD BABY : METALLICA BABY ONESIE. Schedule For 4 Month Old Baby
Happy 1st Birthday On Friday, my youngest daughter turned a year old. It seemed like yesterday I was at the hospital, because the doctor said we are taking her early. We weren't prepared for this little one to come a month early, no diapers bought, crib had not yet been delivered (his dad made her crib), but she was coming. We got to the hospital, all hooked up, doctor looked at me ... said, discharge her there is no reason to take this baby. Yes, there was a lot more explanation being chatted about, boring. Then 4 hours later we got a call, said the doctor was wrong, you are scheduled for a C-section in 2 days ... your baby needs to come early. Darn body ... :-). When I was 12, I had female issues, odd shaped cysts attached to my ovaries, doctors wanted to do a full hysterectomy, my mother told them over her dead body. Lots of issues though, and was told I would never get pregnant. When I was 20, I had a form cervical cancer, fortunate enough that it was found quickly, immediately removed, and has never returned. But, with it came a long history of infertility, infertility treatments, pills ... and doctors telling me if I got pregnant, me and the baby had a 50/50 chance to survive the birth ... hmmm. So, I adopted, that is daughter #2 you see pictures of. Then I married my husband, and 6 months after marriage we dumbfounded my doctors, and we got pregnant. Funnier, we were not living in the same state, and only seen each other every 6-8 weeks. So, there's a little history on my miracle baby ... she wasn't supposed to be, but God has a funny way at giving you things when he knows you are ready.
