You Got Served - Take It to the Streets (Dance Instructional)
YOU GOT SERVED:TAKE IT TO THE STREET - DVD Movie
If you enjoyed the dancing in You Got Served and wondered how they did those moves, this 54-minute dance instruction DVD will give you a hint. Choreographer Dave Scott leads a group of dancers in three routines. He breaks down each move slowly, then combines several and speeds them up. Each pattern uses complex footwork, armwork, and body isolations, and unless you're an experienced dancer, you'll need to stop and reverse frequently to practice and memorize. "You've got to listen to the music and hit everything in the pocket," he says, referring to the rhythmic challenges. And if you discover that the routines are too advanced for you, you can enjoy sitting back and watching the process of dancers learning a routine. Additional features include technique instruction (ticking, waving, freezing) and demonstrations of different styles of street dancing. Hip-hop stars Marques Houston, Omari Grandberry, Christopher Jones, Robert James Hoffman III, and a team of athletic dancers help Scott demonstrate routines and techniques. English, Spanish, and Portuguese subtitles are available. --Joan Price
Day 5 | Dare You to Move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
I've always wanted to dance. Ballet in particular. I dreamed I would be a ballerina when I grew up. I took lessons when I was about 10, for a year. I loved it and then my parents told me there was no time or money for anymore classes. I grew up training myself and hoping for the day I would have my own money so I could go back to class. Then I while I was training I hurt my knee. It has never healed and I've realized I won't ever be a ballerina. It's okay, though, cause I know God has other plans for my life.
the "dance floor" house
every time we take this route, my mom and i gaze at all the beautiful old houses that line the streets (which are beautifully decorated with mature, gorgeous trees all down the sides). both this trip and last, we stopped for a moment in front of this one (waiting at a red light), and we comment about how cool it is. my mom, this time, pointed out some double doors and said she imagined there to be a dance floor behind it (hence the title). it's almost hard to look at all these amazing houses, because i adore them so much and wish i could live in them! at least i get to see them!
