    mobile ip
  • Mobile IP (or IP mobility) is an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standard communications protocol that is designed to allow mobile device users to move from one network to another while maintaining a permanent IP address.

  • Mobile IP is an Internet protocol designed to support host mobility allowing the host to stay connected to the Internet regardless of location.

  • equipment for taking photographs (usually consisting of a lightproof box with a lens at one end and light-sensitive film at the other)

  • A camera is a device that records/stores images. These images may be still photographs or moving images such as videos or movies. The term camera comes from the camera obscura (Latin for "dark chamber"), an early mechanism for projecting images. The modern camera evolved from the camera obscura.

  • television camera: television equipment consisting of a lens system that focuses an image on a photosensitive mosaic that is scanned by an electron beam

IP Design for Mobile Networks

IP Design for Mobile Networks

As the cellular world and the Internet converge, mobile networks are transitioning from circuit to packet and the Internet Protocol (IP) is now recognized as the fundamental building block for all next-generation communication networks. The all-IP vision provides the flexibility to deliver cost-effective services and applications that meet the evolving needs of mobile users. RF engineers, mobile network designers, and system architects will be expected to have an understanding of IP fundamentals and how their role in delivering the end-to-end system is crucial for delivering the all-IP vision that makes the Internet accessible anytime, anywhere.

IP Design for Mobile Networks discusses proper IP design theory to effectively plan and implement your next-generation mobile network so that IP integrates all aspects of the network. The book outlines, from both a standards and a design theory perspective, both the current and target state of mobile networks, and the technology enablers that will assist the migration. This IP transition begins with function-specific migrations of specific network domains and ends with an end-to-end IP network for radio, transport, and service delivery. The book introduces many concepts to give you exposure to the key technology trends and decision points affecting today’s mobile operators.

The book is divided into three parts:
Part I provides an overview of how IP is being integrated into mobile systems, including radio systems and cellular networks.
Part II provides an overview of IP, the technologies used for transport and connectivity of today’s cellular networks, and how the mobile core is evolving to encompass IP technologies.
Part III provides an overview of the end-to-end services network based on IP, including context awareness and services.
Presents an overview of what mobile networks look like today—including protocols used, transport technologies, and how IP is being used for specific functions in mobile networks
Provides an all-inclusive reference manual for IP design theory as related to the broader application of IP for mobile networks
Imparts a view of upcoming trends in mobility standards to better prepare a network evolution plan for IP-based mobile networks
This book is part of the Networking Technology Series from Cisco Press®, which offers networking professionals valuable information for constructing efficient networks, understanding new technologies, and building successful careers.

Cell Broadband Torrent use

Cell Broadband Torrent use

More and more Cell phone companies are showing up / mobile broadband being used for torrent traffic.

Ahh the times man how they have evolved. Just in ten years torrent traffic has changed. Ive watched the disappearance of Education IPs to dsl and cable providers to the flux of UTP traffic. . and now the arrival of Mobile Broadband to the masses, im seeing over 10 a torrent now days, when in the past you would look and you would be lucky to see one Mobile IP in a day.

Humoctopus returns... In sticker form

I've posted about the Humoctopus before. It's an icon from a broadcast test message from Berbee's Informacast software for Cisco IP Phones. Very funny.

I decided to take the Humoctopus PNG file and put it on some dymo labels, now they're stickers!

Mobile IP: The Internet Unpled

Mobile IP (Internet Protocol) brings together two of the world's most powerful technology trends: the Internet and mobile communications. This is the first book to clearly explain what Mobile IP is, how it works, and the security implications of its use. "This could become the Mobile IP "bible"... -- Gabriel Montenegro, Sun Microsystems. Mobile IP: The Internet Unpled reviews the problems Mobile IP is designed to solve, and how it solves them. It shows how to use Mobile IP in real-world campus and Internet-wide applications, and reviews the state-of-the-art in Mobile IP network security -- including the role of key management, encryption, authentication, integrity checking and non-repudiation. There is also detailed coverage of essential concepts including agent discovery, registration, IP encapsulation. The book also presents models for delivering commercial service using Mobile IP, and reviews the technical issues that still need attention. Part of the Prentice Hall Series in Computer Networking and Distributed Systems, Radia Perlman, Series Editor. For anyone interested in mobile internetworking as an implementer, network manager, architect, service provider, or student.
