The Puck

The Puck

As some of my flickr friends know...I will be working on the ferries (computer training the captains) off the coast of Maine for the next three weeks. My first port is in Licolnville and I will travel to the island of Isleboro. This photo was taken in the evening...just before night, and the little pond was not lighted, so it is a little dark, but I like it. I like it for a number of reasons, one being is because three of the guys in this photo agreed to be strangers for my 100 stranger project. I took this photo in a town that neighbors my first port of call, Lincolnville. This little pond is in Rockport, and seemed to be a popular place for the locals.
It was great entertainment to watch these talented guys play a friendly (but tough) game. I should have packed my ice skates, but who knew! It would have been fun to skate around, but not WITH these guys...LOL!

The Hockey Sweater Lesson

    hockey sweater
  • A hockey jersey, traditionally called a sweater (due to it originally being made from sweater material, such as wool), is a piece of clothing worn by hockey players to cover the upper part of their bodies.

  • "The Hockey Sweater" ("Le chandail de hockey" in the original French; originally published as "Une abominable feuille d'erable sur la glace" ["An abominable maple leaf on the ice"]) is a short story published in 1979 by Canadian author Roch Carrier.

    lesson
  • Admonish or rebuke (someone)

  • a unit of instruction; "he took driving lessons"

  • moral: the significance of a story or event; "the moral of the story is to love thy neighbor"

  • Instruct or teach (someone)

  • example: punishment intended as a warning to others; "they decided to make an example of him"

Hockey Sweater

Hockey Sweater

This looks big, bulky and uncomfortable to wear...but boy oh boy it isn't. A woman near my house has her own sheep and spins the roving from them. This sweater is the warmest sweater I own! Can't remember what type of wool but I know there is silk and alpaca mixed in. The pink is Blue Sky Alpacas Bulky.
What I like best about this sweater is the unique colors she has in the green. Her design, my interpretation. Can't remember what I changed it was so long ago!

Blah. This didn't turn out quite as I had hoped. It's really difficult to take an under the covers shot and it gets insanely warm under there!

Random Fact: I did paint Moishe and I intended on doing all the "wild things" but I was hit with a migraine last night that has continued on through today and I just didn't really feel like painting. Side fact, I'm really really excited about the "Where The Wild Things Are" movie that's coming out soon!!

TRP: Childish at heart
TOTW: Unfamiliar Places: I've never taken a shot underneath the covers of my bed, and I don't really plan on it anytime soon!
