2 INCH HITCH BIKE RACK

Already rather tired-looking (rusting) National Cycleway Network signpost. I never did really like these things, too much 'arty', not enough functionality. Without stopping it's hard to read the information on them, and I'm afraid when I'm on a bike, stopping to read every poxy signpost and admire its somewhat dubious artwork is not a high priority. I mean look at the pathetic size of the towns labelled on this one, and compare it with a normal fingerpost.

These were paid for by the National Lottery and RBS, the Royal Bank of Scotland. Another fine mess...

Take a close look at the design details - use large size. It looks like the artist was given the remit "Do something about fossil fuels", so he's done a few things about petrol and added a few fossils - yet not one of the fossils described would actually create a 'fossil fuel' - i.e. none of them are plants, which would make coal (land plants) or oil (phytoplankton etc).

This sort of added crapulence just makes it all the more juvenile and dumbed down as far as I'm concerned. Some might say I'm being harsh, 'Come on Notes, they tried their best' etc.

If this is their best, someone is paying them waaaay too much. It is a travesty of misinformed pap, masquerading as educational art, in my humble-but-correct opinion.

If only someone had asked the cyclists a simple question - 'what do you need?' I guarantee they would have answered: 'Clear, helpful directions, please.'

Yes, that is the name of this bicycle pump, a Topeak Joe Blow. It seems such a simple thing, but there are features on a pump that are really important.

- A fairly accurate gauge, so you know how much air you are putting in the tires. I like this one because it’s up near the top, making it easier to read.
- A big fat comfy handle
- A locking plunger, so you can carry it around and not have it extending when your try to grab it by the handle.
- A good pump head for the type of valve you are using. All my bikes now are presta, so I really want it to work well with presta.
