    alloy wheels
  • A term used to describe any non-steel road wheel. The most common alloy wheels are cast aluminum. Technically, an alloy is a mixture of two or more metals. These wheels are known for their light weight and strength.

  • (Alloy Wheel) Car wheels made of aluminium, rather than steel. Main advantages include lighter weight and attractive styling. Mostly chosen for style reasons.

  • Alloy wheels (incorrectly known as rims) are automobile (car, motorcycle and truck) wheels which are made from an alloy of aluminium or magnesium (or sometimes a mixture of both). bargain
  • An agreement between two or more parties as to what each party will do for the other

  • an agreement between parties (usually arrived at after discussion) fixing obligations of each; "he made a bargain with the devil"; "he rose to prominence through a series of shady deals"

  • dicker: negotiate the terms of an exchange; "We bargained for a beautiful rug in the bazaar"

  • an advantageous purchase; "she got a bargain at the auction"; "the stock was a real buy at that price"

  • A thing bought or offered for sale more cheaply than is usual or expected

bargain alloy wheels - Tuesday Night

Tuesday Night Music Club

Tuesday Night Music Club

The spectacular debut album that launched Sheryl Crow into rock music consciousness has been expanded both musically and visually for the 2CD/1DVD "Tuesday Night Music Club - Deluxe Edition." Along with the original 1993 album, the package adds a second CD containing B-sides, rarities and out-takes, as well as a bonus DVD featuring the album's videos ("Leaving Las Vegas," "All I Wanna Do," "Strong Enough," "Can't Cry Anymore," "Run, Baby, Run" and "What I Can Do For You," plus a rare alternate version of "All I Wanna Do" directed by Roman Coppola) and a newly produced documentary comprised of on-the-road, backstage, soundcheck and live footage from the original album tour.
Highlighting the bonus CD for "Tuesday Night Music Club - Deluxe Edition" are four previously unreleased recordings from 1995 that were intended for the follow-up album--"Coffee Shop," "Killer Life," "Essential Trip Of Hereness" and "You Want More"--each only now mixed by original "Tuesday Night Music Club" producer Bill Bottrell. In addition, Bottrell remixed the album's "I Shall Believe" specifically for this "Deluxe Edition." The bonus CD also includes a trio of U.K. single B-sides ("Reach Around Jerk," an alternate "The Na-Na Song" titled "Volvo Cowgirl 99" and a cover of Eric Carmen's "All By Myself"), a tribute album cover of Led Zeppelin's "D'yer Mak'er," and "On The Outside," a contribution to an "X-Files" soundtrack album.
"Tuesday Night Music Club" has proved to be a landmark achievement even beyond propelling Crow's own formidable career by inspiring and influencing countless female singer-songwriters, perhaps even saving that genre from extinction in the grungy days of the early `90s. Certified seven times platinum and charting at #3, the album spawned five Grammy® nominations and three wins: Best New Artist and a pair for "All I Wanna Do," including Record of the Year. Three songs reached the Pop Top 40--the gold "All I Wanna Do" (#2), "Strong Enough" (#5) and "Can't Cry Anymore." "Leaving Las Vegas" cracked the Modern Rock Top 10.
"Somehow amidst the dance divas of MTV and the dark angst of Seattle grunge," writes her manager, Scooter Weintraub, in the liner notes, "Sheryl's salty voice, twangy Telecaster, frayed Levis, red curls and bent upper lip scratched their way into the musical culture." In 1999, she was ranked among VH1's "100 Greatest Women of Rock & Roll."

Sheryl Crow's proper debut--an earlier, slicker record was scrapped in favor of Tuesday Night--occasionally reaches too far in attempting Significance, as when the album opens by name-checking Aldous Huxley. Usually, though, Crow and her band of L.A. session and singer/songwriter collaborators strike just the right tone. The "Stuck in the Middle with You" homage of "All I Wanna Do," the clanking guitar riff of "Can't Cry Anymore," and the funky threat of "What I Can Do for You" meld perfectly with the lyrics, resulting in a peak of mainstream pop-rock. --Rickey Wright

SE Draft Lite 2010 fresh out of the box

Actually had a few probs with the SE, both wheels were out of true. The front one seriously so. Now, in my opinion the problem is actually the way the cycle is packed in the box. The alloy rims are not hugely strong and packing pressure seems to warp them. Easily sorted but on reflection I decided to return the bike to Chainreactioncycles.com and get my cash back. Chainreaction I'd recommend hugely, top outfit, honest and returned my cash and my return DHL costs without quibble.
Incidentally I paid ?170 for the bike, during some further 10 per cent off offer on an already heavily discounted bike, which remains a bargain and the 54cm frame will really only suit someone with a 32inch inside leg or upward.
The SE Lager Lite is still a bit of a bargain and, with the exception of the wheels, the own brand kit is decent quality and the paint job was first class.

Toni Braxton

Import pressing includes one bonus track, Give U My Heart (Mad Ball Mix). 13 tracks in all. Sony/BMG.

The perfect matchup of singer, song, and producer is a wondrous thing, and no more so in the producer-driven realm of black pop. Such a wonderful moment was the debut from Toni Braxton who, in Kenneth Babyface Edmonds, had an uber lord who tapped into the dark yet radio-friendly recess of her soul. Braxton gives nobility to heartbreak with classics like "Breathe Again." Her debut remains one of the best of the '90s. --Amy Linden

'62 Lotus Seven 1500 almost ready to see daylight for the 1st time since about 1975!

16 October 2009, somewhere in Los Angeles:

We bought a "barn find" '62 Lotus Seven 1500. It has been in storage for over 30 years. Its an old SoCal slalom/club racer.

Its been a very long day. Just got home at 2115. Left the house at 0430 to beat the traffic in Los Angeles (that's where the car has lived it's entire life). I met my friend Raul at the seller's home. He kindly volunteered to help out with towing the car back to our home. As our little S10 pickup only has a 4-cylinder engine I was worried about wheter or not it was up to hauling a car and trailer over the hills to San Diego. I couldn't believe it, he was at least as excited about the car as I was.

We spent all day digging the cars out of the sellers' garage (the Lotus went into the garage about 1975 and has sat there on it's trailer ever since), getting paper work taken care of at AAA (waaaaaay better than the DMV ), finding and then going across town to America's Tire and getting tires on the trailer's wheels (the kid at Discount, er, America's had never seen a 7.75 x 15 nylon cord tire before!), cleaning the garage, moving the other car back into the garage, driving back home to unload the car and then dumping all of the old stuff that we cleaned out of the seller's garage.

While I'm exhausted, I'm also pretty euphoric. We got the car out into the daylight and back to San Diego County successfully in one day.

The sellers are in their 70's or 80's and had good documentation on the car that includes dash plaques from their slalom racing history. They were an absolute joy to spend time with. Once they got rolling, they never ran out of stories about the people that they have met and the adventures that they have had with their cars in SoCal sports car racing circles during the 50's, 60's 70's. Basically, for me, today was like spending the best day ever with my grandparents and then having it be Christmas and my birthday too. All rolled into one.

On the other hand, it seemed like today was also sort of like being in the movie, "Back To The Future". You know, it was like I was talking to my wife and myself about 30 years into the future. I'm just hoping that my wife and I are as energetic and full of life as our new car's previous owners when we are in our their age!

Hopefully sometime in the coming months I will be able to find the time to get it running and then actually drive it.

Now I can tow another bike behind my trailer, in case I need to take a broken bike to the shop.

If I put a wheel underneath the front of the trailer and balanced the weight right, I could theoretically drive that bike and push my trailer, instead of pulling it behind. That would be weird.

Miranda Model A

Miranda Model A

The Miranda Model A Replaced The Original 1955 Miranda Model T In 1957, And - Wash My Mouth With Soap - Is A Far More Useable And Better Spec'd Camera. However, We Can't Deny The Miranda T's Place In History - It Was After All, The First Japanese 35mm SLR With A Pentaprism, And Is Therefore Highly Prized Especially By Japanese Collectors. So Don't Be Suprised If You Have To Fork Out Over $1,000 In US Greenbacks For A Nice One!

The 'New' Model Miranda A That Replaced The Model T, Had An Exakta-Style Outrigger Auto-Diaphragm Lens Plus Lever Wind And Crank Rewind, Which While Commonplace Later On SLRS, Were State-Of-The-Art 50 Years Ago. Its Biggest Drawback Was That It Still Lacked An Instant Return Mirror, Something That Was Rectified Within 12 Months By The Miranda B Model Of 1958 Which Replaced The 'A'.

Asahi Had Patented This Design For Their Asahiflex in 1954, So Presumably Some Protracted Contractual Wheeling-And-Dealing Was Involved Which had Delayed Its Incorporation In The Model A. I'm Only Second-Guessing Here, Because It's Not The Sort Of Thing That Either Company Would Have Wanted To Become Public Knowledge.

Its Shiny-Chrome Finish f1.9 5 cm Y-Series PAD Soligor Miranda Lens Is IMHO, The Classiest-Looking Of All Standard 5cm/50mm Miranda Lenses. The Original Box Was A Nice Acquisition Too - Possibly The Only One Still Known To Exist, And a Work Of Art In Itself With Ruby Velvety Material Profiled Around The Camera. I Also Found Quite A Rarity In That Oval JCII Certificate, Hiding Under the Velvet. These Oval Certificates Were Shortly Replaced By Small Gold-coloured Stickers Attached To The Cameras. The Camera Itself Has A Body S/No Of 571005, Indicating It Was Just The Fifth Model A Ever Made. I'm Very Proud Of The Whole Outfit - It's The Jewel In My Miranda Collection.

The Model A Came Standard With That Lovely F1.9 PAD Soligor And Pentaprism, And Cost US$259.95 - Quite A Lot Of Dosh In 1957. It Wasn't Sold In Britain Because Of The Embargo On Japanese Camera Imports, Which Was Shortly To Be Lifted. I'm uncertain about it having been sold here in Australia, although I do know the later Model B was definately sold here for A Pnds 99-10-0d.

in Wikipedia

The Alfa Romeo Spider is a roadster produced by the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo from 1966 to 1993 (190 Spiders were badged as 1994 Commemorative Editions for the North American market).[3]Widely regarded as a design classic, it remained in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes. The three first series were assembled by Pininfarina in Grugliasco and the fourth series in San Giorgio Canavese.

Series 1 Spider (1966-1969)
Based on the Giulia 105 series chassis, the Spider was launched in 36th Geneva Motor Show in 1966.[4] Unnamed at launch, the name "Duetto" was chosen in a write-in competition in Italy.[5] The Italian firm of Pininfarina was responsible for the design of the body; in fact, the Duetto was the last project with which founder Battista "Pinin" Farina was personally associated.[4]Pininfarina were also responsible for the manufacture of the vehicle's monocoque construction (designed with the relatively new principles of crumple zones incorporated into the front and rear). The engine was a 1570 cc variant of the Alfa Romeo twin cam four cylinder engine, and produced 109 hp (81 kW). Sparsely fitted inside but including five speed transmission, disc brakes and independent front suspension, the price on launch in Italy was 2,195,000 lire.
The original "Duetto" was in production from 1966-1967; replaced in late 1967 by the 1750 Spider Veloce, powered by a 118 hp (88 kW) 1779 cc engine. In Europe this was fitted with two twin carburettors, whereas models for the North American market (from MY 1969) had SPICA (Societa? Pompe Iniezione Cassani & Affini) mechanical fuel injection.[6] Modifications were also made to the suspension, brakes, electrics and wheels and tyres though the car looked effectively the same. Visible differences were limited to the rear-view mirror repositioned to the door, and different badging on the tail. During the production run, the front repeater lights were moved ahead of the wheelarches. The car's official title was 1750 Spider Veloce, the name "Duetto" being dropped from this point on.
A new Spider 1300 Junior, with a 1290 cc engine producing 89 hp (66 kW), was introduced in 1968. This lacked various features of the 1750, including the plastic headlight fairings, the brake servo, hubcaps and opening quarterlight.
Due to its round (or long) tail, the Series 1 Spider is sometimes known by the nick-name of "Osso di Sepia" - Italian for cuttlebone fish.

Series 2 Spider (1970-1982/83)
In 1970 the first significant change to the exterior styling was introduced on the 1750 Spider Veloce, with the original's distinctive elongated round tail changed to a more conventional cut-off tail, called the "Kamm tail", as well as improving the luggage space. Numerous other small changes took place both inside and out, such as a slightly different grille, new doorhandles, a more raked windscreen, top-hinged pedals and improved interior trim.
1971 saw the Spider Veloce get a new, larger powerplant - a 1962 cc, 132 hp (98 kW) unit - and consequently the name was changed from 1750 Spider Veloce to 2000 Spider Veloce. The 1600 Spider restarted production a year later as the Spider 1600 Junior, and was visually identical to the 1300.
The 1300 and 2000 cars were modified in 1974 and 1975 respectively to include two small seats behind the front seats, becoming a "two plus two" four seater. The 1300 model was discontinued in 1977. Also, between 1974 and 1976, the early-style stainless-steel bumpers were discontinued and replaced with black, rubber-clad units to meet increasingly stringent North American crash requirements.

Series 3 Spider (1982/83-1989/90)
The Series 3 Spider was previewed in North America for the 1982 model year with the introduction of 2.0 liter Bosch electronic fuel injection to replace the SPICA mechanical injection.
The Spider underwent a major styling revamp in 1983, which saw the introduction of black rubber front and rear bumpers. The front bumper incorporated the grille and a small soft rubber spoiler was added to the trunk lid. The change altered the exterior appearance of the car considerably and was not universally praised by enthusiasts. Various other minor mechanical and aesthetic modifications were also made, and the 1600 car (never available in North America) dropped the "Junior" name.

The Quadrifoglio Verde (Green Fourleaf Clover) model was introduced in 1986, with many aesthetic tweaks, including sideskirts, mirrors, new front and rear spoilers, hard rubber trunk mounted spolirs with integral 3rd stoplight and optional removable hardtop. It was otherwise mechanically identical to the standard Spider Veloce model, with a 1962 cc double overhead cam, four-cylinder engine (twin two-barrel carburetors in Europe; North American models retained the Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection introduced for the 1982 model y

0 PHOTOGRAPH PARTICULARS 0

Right around the corner, to the west of the main “toadstools” area (which has a lot of deep red colored sandstone), is a small box canyon section, with white cliffs and white toadstools (with dark cap rocks). It is an enchanting portion of the toadstools to visit but difficult to get good photographs. The white soil is as white as snow, with a slight pink caste and then dark capstones just don’t provide much contrast. Fun place to see though.

Toadstools. A place I hiked to in 2008 but the early morning light on this visit made it a very special place indeed. They have improved the easily accessible trailhead with a new sign and some free informative pamphlets. Well worth a stop when traveling through the area.

The trailhead for the toadstools is on Utah highway 89 1.4 miles east of the BLM Paria rangers’ station (where the Wave lotteries are held) and just 1.6 miles west of the south terminus to the fun dirt “Cottonwood Road”.

In the Grand Canyon there are at least two layers (representing millions of years) that are gone. They were eroded away before the next “new” layer was added on top. This is called an “unconformity” by geologists. I knew about the Grand Canyon unconformities but I had no idea that an unconformity played a roll in the formation of the “toadstool” area here along highway 89.

Paraphrasing the good information in the small trail pamphlet:
[The “bottom” layer of rocks at the toadstools is around 160 millions old (The Entrada Formation). The top layer is 97 million years old and called the Dakota Formation. In between once resided the Morrison Formation (the middle of the rock sandwich), but it was eroded completely away before the Dakota Formation rocks made their appearance].

The boundaries between rock layers at the toadstool are noticeably “tilted” in places and there are dramatic differences in the color and texture of different layers. So, an interesting geological history and some worthy for photo ops formations as a result. Plan to take your camera on the very short hike to this place, if you haven’t already been.

0 ACTIVITIES DAY TEN OF TWELVE 0

If there was one day to “live again” on this road trip then day TEN was it. It was outstanding from start to finish. The weather was A1 perfect. We had a little dirt road travel with the windows of the Jeep rolled down and a lot of good photo ops at the many different places we traveled. Oh yes, a great meal at the Escalante Outfitters to end the day properly.

We left Page, Arizona before dawn. We watched the sun come up over Navajo Mountain and Lake Powell. Then on to “The Toadstools” off highway 89 for a short hike and some great early morning light on those formations. We then backtracked 1.6 miles fto the Cottonwood road (a road I had driven recently in my pickup truck, only from north to south), and enjoyed a clear warm blue sky day drive up to Butler (Grosvenor) arch.

From Butler arch, we went on to Kodachrome Basin, where we took a short three mile loop hike. I loved the campground at Kodachrome and have promised my wife that we will camp there together and take some of the longer hikes available in that pretty little state park (Oh yes, the campground has HOT showers).

from Kodachrome Basin state park, we drove up to Bryce National Park. LOTS of snow, but beautiful on a sunny day (few other people). We ate at the Subway just outside Ruby Inn - then drove on to Rainbow Point, which at 9,100 feet, had plenty of snow (about three feet worth along the lookout path).

Then we worked our way back out Bryce, stopping to photograph at each and every lookout point that had been plowed, enjoying Bryce as the sun dropped down low and the light changed by the minute.

After Bryce we backtracked again and drove on to Escalante, Utah (one of my often visited and favorite “base camps”), where we had reserved rooms by phone at the rustic but friendly: Circle “D” motel (ask for Robert and tell him Oldmantravels with the old red Toyota pickup truck sent you).

After checking in at the Circle “D”, we headed over to the Escalante Outfitters ( hiking supply, books, free internet use, excellent food, really friendly people cafe) - - for a big dinner a cold beer, pizza, and a “toast” to the best road trip day we had enjoyed thus far.

We had LOTS of dirt road destinations in mind for day 11 of the road trip (the next day) BUT we were in for quite a surprise the next morning at Escalante. So like on all good road trips, you stay flexible, make the best of what comes your way, and go for it and that is exactly what we did.

At the start of year 2011, I made tentative plans to take a two week solo “road trip” through the Four Corners area (The Colorado Plateau), during the last half of March. Then, if my wife could get the time needed off from her part time job, I also planned a “road trip” vacation to the Southwest, in April with her.

When I put the plan toget

Annecy, a walk near our campsite.

Annecy, a walk near our campsite.

Juliet's Log:
Took wrong lane on A8 at the start of the journey while sorting out mirrors. Went E instead of W wasting 35 mins! Further hic-cup in Bern where new road was unknown to Emily. Had to uncouple and turn on movers.
Situated between Annecy and Doussard on the W side of the Lake. Beautiful area and 24°C sunshine. Very pleased with convenient pitch as we wouldn’t know there were 2 rallies on the site – 90%+ English here. David and Joy were already here. Thunderstorms in the evening.
Aimed to rise early for Annecy market and failed. However we got there in time to have a wander through before the showers drove the stalls under cover and a halt to our visit. Bought honey etc. The city was very crowded, looked beautiful and requires another reconnoiter when the market has gone.
Rain didn’t last long and we had a beautiful ride to Faverges on the old railway line. An amazing straight, flat, tarmac dedicated cycle between beautiful wooded mountains with craggy peaks. Cycled about 12 kms each way – very relaxed.
Drove into Annecy for a wander. Beautiful day, enjoyed the old town. We had a reasonable lunch at the first cafe beyond the bridge on the River Thiou just before the Palais d’Ile.
Joy came round for tea and later to invite us to join them and their friends John and Chris for dinner at a restaurant with a terrace overlooking the lake. Expensive but superb meal beautifully presented but not Roger’s style. A lovely, fun evening. All returned to ours for a cognac. Great end to a glorious day.
Drove up to Col on E side of Lake Annecy where para-gliders set off. Torrents of rain came down as we drove up the winding narrow road. Parked up next to John and Chris and ate our lunch in the car. Great! Did jobs around the caravan until the weather cleared a bit and went for a walk through St.Jorioz.
Continued to rain all day, heavy, for 42 hours. Decided to do an indoor visit. Chateau at the top of the hill had huge rooms with enormous beams and fireplaces. Exhibitions on biodiversity and the all aspects of the Lake. Walked down the Isle where the Palais had had a history of multiple uses, mainly as a prison. Enjoyable day despite the weather
Cloudy but dry so chose a walk in the mountains behind us. A long drive up via St.Jorioz through pretty mixed woodland and rocky outcrops. The plateau at the top was about 5,500’ high and it was very cold at about 8.5°C. With walk book and Randonnee map we still managed to get lost – but not seriously as it was a round route and the beginning was not far from view. Distant views in all directions. Bought some French Rabochon Alpen cheese. Weather forecast continues to be unsettled and not very warm. Sorry to leave a beautiful area but had enough and need greater warmth. David and Joy are also leaving and came round for a final drink.

The Race for a New Game Machine: Creating the Chips Inside the XBox 360 and the Playstation 3

The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 game systems have changed the face of home entertainment. But few know the amazing story inside the consoles--how David Shippy and his team of top-notch engineers at the Sony/Toshiba/IBM Design Center (STI) forged the tiny miracle at the core of it all: a revolutionary microprocessor chip that set a new paradigm in personal computing. It's a thrilling, all-or-nothing race to deliver the industry's fastest chip in record time. At stake were the livelihoods--and sanity--of an unsung group of tireless visionaries. At war were the giants Microsoft and Sony.
The tough road to market started in 2001 when Shippy assembled the talent to design the chip for Sony's hotly anticipated PlayStation 3 game console, planned for a late 2005 release. In 2003, a gigantic wrench was thrown into the operation in the form of Microsoft--the software behemoth wanted the STI team's microprocessor for its own Xbox 360 and targeted Christmas, 2005, as well. As they desperately served two masters, balancing Microsoft's "victory or death" attitude and Sony's slow patience and caution, Shippy and his team endured 80-hour workweeks, flaring tempers, crumbled friendships, despair, and finally--triumph.
The Race For A New Game Machine is a dazzling, behind-the-scenes account of life in the tech world, featuring memorable characters, high-level corporate intrigue, and cutthroat business dealings. Driving the technical accomplishment was the bold vision that inspired the designers at STI, and throughout the book David Shippy and Mickie Phipps reveal the leadership lessons they drew from this experience, including team motivation, fostering innovation, and demanding hard work while encouraging fun.
The Ultimate Technology Challenge
My team and I had worked tirelessly at IBM for two and a half years, breathing life into the Sony PlayStation 3 "Cell" central processing chip. We ordered our lives around the idea of beating Microsoft to market with a Christmas launch.
Now Chekib Akrout, IBM's senior vice president responsible for the PlayStation's chip team, told me another customer wanted our secret-weapon, record-smashing PowerPC microprocessor core. It was Microsoft.
"How did this happen?" I grumbled through gritted teeth.
"Let's just say it was a blockbuster, an offer IBM couldn't refuse," he answered. Over a billion dollars were involved, spanning the entire spectrum from development to chip manufacturing.
"There's more," Akrout said. "Microsoft wants something very similar to what you designed for Sony but with some unique enhancements, and they want it on the same schedule." He then described the design changes Microsoft needed for a super-aggressive, market-shaking Christmas launch.
Akrout didn't blink. It took me a second, but I got the message.
My goals were very clear when I joined IBM in the mid 1980s. I wanted cutting-edge microprocessor design projects that really pushed the state of the art. I wanted to lead design teams and leave my mark on the industry. This vision was the focal point of my whole career. Akrout handed me one of the top technology leadership positions in the entire industry and at that moment, I saw the top of the mountain, everything I wanted. Would I have to stake my claim by screwing Sony and extending Microsoft's dominance of digital life? Or could I help them both succeed?
--from the Prologue

This book looks at the politics of spinning both as a visual symbol and as a symbolic practice. It traces the genealogy of spinning from its early colonial manifestations in Company painting to its reinterpretation, deployment and manipulation by the anti-colonial movement.

My objective is to collect and illustrate different everyday objects that carry the symbolic meanings of masculinity and femininity.
Symbols are familiar objects standing for something abstract, such as an idea, emotion, desire or belief. Tradition symbols form a universal language that becomes more mysterious as we explored new methods, such as the invention of alphabets, to make communication more direct and convenient. Nevertheless, symbols continue to give ordinary things a larger dimension, often a spiritual one. They are the hidden messages that appear in art, religion, and literature, discovering the very themes that dominate our thoughts and dreams.

THE SPINNING WHEEL (a sonnet)

THE SPINNING WHEEL (a sonnet)

Of our own life, we are the wheel and hinge,
And living rays our rims, when we start spinning.
The choice is ours: we may decide to cringe
Or to give to our sphere a new beginning.

If we don’t run, someone will run instead,
Most of the times to make us trip and fall.
Be sure to be the one running ahead:
Take care not to be pinned to the wall.

This day’s a spinning circle on a wheel
Two Fates spun the thread and count its length.
The third one cuts it: it’s her daily deal.
We can roll on, if we don’t lose your strength.

Our DNA is spinning and rolling universes:
The mother of all wheels would turn and twist reverses.

(Sonnet by SiRiChandra)

Wheel Bearing Dust Cap

wheel bearing dust cap

    wheel bearing
  • A bearing or bearing assembly located at each wheel allowing the wheel to spin around the axle with minimal wear and friction. Front wheel bearings are contained within the hub, and are sometimes integral to the hub. A wheel bearing set consists of an inner and outer bearing.

    dust cap
  • A small, circular piece that is inserted into a speaker diaphragm or cone near the bottom, to cover the voice coil.

  • The dust cap (also known as dust dome, or dome) is a gently curved dome mounted either in concave or convex orientation over the central hole of most loudspeaker diaphragms.

  • A removable device that protects the male tip half when disconnected from the female coupling half. Excludes contamination.

Bearing Buddy Fits Hubs with LM - 67010 2.441

Bearing Buddy... protect your wheel bearings! Tack years onto the life of your trailer's wheel bearings with the steel Bearing Buddy! Replaces the dust cap in the wheel hub and that you fill with grease through a fitting on the Bearing Buddy. The patented spring-loaded piston holds a slight pressure inside the hub, and when the wheel is submerged, the higher inside pressure won't allow water in. This prevents corrosion and altogether shorter bearing life. Best of all, the automatic relief valve feature limits pressure inside the hub to protect rear seals from rupture. And check this out... since the hub is full of grease, bearings receive constant lubrication that tacks years onto their effectiveness. Also allows for quick lubricant level check so you'll never have to re-pack your bearings! Available in numerous hub sizes. Sold in pairs. Maintain your trailer wheels with top-quality Bearing Buddy! Chater Lea Hubs

Chater Lea Hubs

I'd managed to buy a set of replacement Chater Lea hubs for the bike, since my originals had a broken cup in the rear hub. (See other photos in this set).

When I finally came to build the wheels I found the new rear hub flanges were bent out of line. Very annoying!

So a little time spent in the garage I managed to pull one of the cups from the hub with the bent flange and hey presto instant spare part to fix up my old hub.

End result I'm happy. I've been able to keep the original hubs! But I'll be looking closer at what I purchase next time.

Re-painted hub

Re-painted hub

Since part of the hub shows when the wheel is installed, I opted to prep and paint the hub gloss white. Here it is installed and awaiting the wheel and dust cap.
