Old farming equipment
Old St. Vrain Rd. is the southern of the two "fruit loops". The other is called Apple Valley, thus the Fruit Loops nickname. It's a great way to get off the highway for a couple miles on the way up South St. Vrain Canyon.
This photo appeared in the following ideotrope albums:
Boulder-Lyons-Riverside-Ward loop - Julie and I went on a great bike loop on Sunday: up South St. Vrain Canyon, down Lefthand Canyon, and over Lee Hill to Boulder. As is my tendency, I underestimated the difficulty of this ride while convincing Julie to come. Then, when we had the chance to ride down James Canyon, I underestimated how much climbing there is on the Peak To Peak between the top of James Canyon and Ward. I called it rolling. Well, it rolls between slightly uphill and moderately uphill. The food at the Mill Site Inn transformed what was turning into an unhappy cycling companion. The climb through the Peaceful Valley area is where I lost Zane a couple years ago, described here. I stayed with Julie, and she pushed on.
