Solomon Islands
The Solomon Islands is a small island nation to the north east of Australia. It's only a two hours flight from Brisbane, but because of the bad reputation there are hardly any tourists. When we went to the tourist office in Honiara we were told we were the first Germans to visit that year - and it was August already! We loved it and found it very peaceful. All the experts told us the same. From Honiara we visited the small town of Gizo in the north of the country. There are plenty of beautiful islands with coral reefs, WWII wrecks and lovely people. This is the view of Gizo harbour from near the Gizo Hotel. The little boats run like buses to the outlying islands. The country is a perfect place for divers and fishermen.

This summer we went to Indonesia. This was one of the nicest places we visited. The beach is awesome on Gili Meno. There is a little 5km long road around the island. Traffic is light, no cars allowed, only horses! The beach chairs belong to the Gazebo Hotel. In the background is Lombok.
