Yes, when I was 7-10 years old... I used to have a supper at my beautiful grandmas home which was very near by my home...after the school hours I and my brother both went to grandmas home and our grand father always lying down in the planters chair at the veranda welcomes us with his laugh and he shouted to my grandma...

We both running in to grandma’s non veg-kitchen were she’s waiting for us (there was a separate kitchen for non-veg and the food cooked in exclusive vessels. She’s very orthodox and she never allowed us to have our non-veg supper in the regular dining hall) so we both picked up the dishes and straight away went to the garden and we told the “day’s happenings” to her... she enjoyed it very much and finishes with her lovely stories.. By the time our grand father also joined us... it was always fun filled evenings...
There was an unwritten agreement between the brothers. Yes my brother always interested to chew the chicken, mutton pieces. And I love him very much and so I took only the leftovers (i.e.) only gravy which I liked it... (Even today it continues....)

When the last day when she’s in her death bed, her soul was waiting for me...
There were a dozen of grand children’s around her bed and every body offered a spoon of last milk. (It’s our tradition that when a person on his/ her last breath the dear ones should offered a spoon of water or milk) finally it was my turn and she refused and she hold my palm and Kissed me That moment I saw the smile from her sparkling eyes and its still in my eyes...and the end came immediately...
One day, Grand children’s are become grand parents...
What they teach to their grand children’s?
Perhaps, how can they escape from the terrorist attacks????
Or else about the love, respect, I don’t think so..!!!!!!

Hina Doll Set

First Tier:

The top tier holds two dolls, known as imperial dolls (??? (?????) dairi-bina). These are the Emperor (???? Odairi-sama) holding a ritual baton (? shaku) and Empress (??? Ohina-sama) holding a fan. The words dairi means "imperial palace", and hina means "girl" or "princess".

The dolls are usually placed in front of a gold folding screen byobu (??)

Optional are the two lampstands, called bonbori (???), and the paper or silk lanterns that are known as hibukuro (???), which are usually decorated with cherry or ume blossom patterns.

Second Tier

The second tier holds three court ladies san-nin kanjo (????). Each holds sake equipment.

1.) the standing lady on the left is the backup sake-bearer Kuwae no choshi (?????)

2.)the standing lady on the right is the long-handled sake-bearer Nagae no choshi (?????)

3.)The only lady in the middle is the seated sake bearer Sanpo (??).

Accessories placed between the ladies are takatsuki (??), stands with round table-tops for seasonal sweets, excluding hishimochi.

Third Tier

The third tier holds five male musicians gonin bayashi (????). Each holds a musical instrument except the Utaikata (???) -singer, who holds a sensu (??)- fan. The instruments are:

Small drum Taiko (??)
Large drum Otsuzumi (??)
Hand drum Kotsuzumi (??)
YokoFue (flute) (?), or Yokobue (??)

Fourth Tier:

Two ministers (daijin) are displayed on the fourth tier: the Minister of the Right (??? Udaijin) and the Minister of the Left (??? Sadaijin). The Minister of the Right is depicted as a young person, while the Minister of the Left is much older. Both are equipped with bows and arrows.

Between the two figures are covered bowl tables kakebanzen (???), also referred to as o-zen (??), as well as diamond-shaped stands hishidai (??) bearing diamond-shaped ricecakes hishimochi (??). Hishidai with feline-shaped legs are known as nekoashigata hishidai (?????). Just below the ministers: on the rightmost, a mandarin orange tree Ukon no tachibana (?????), and on the leftmost, a cherry tree Sakon no sakura (????).

Fifth Tier:

The fifth tier holds three helpers or samurais as the protectors of the Emperor and Empress:

Sixth Tier:

These are items used within the palatial residence.

1.) tansu (??) : chest of (usually five) drawers, sometimes with swinging outer covering doors.

2.) nagamochi (??) : long chest for kimono storage.

3.) hasamibako (??) : smaller clothing storage box, placed on top of nagamochi.

4.) kyodai (??) : literally mirror stand, a smaller chest of drawer with a mirror on top.

5.) haribako (??) : sewing kit box.

6.) two hibachi (??) : hearth or burners.

7.) daisu (??) : a set of ocha dogu (????) or cha no yu dogu (?????), utensils for the tea ceremony.

Seventh Tier:
These are items used when away from the palatial residence.

1.) gokago (??? or ???), a palanquin.

2.) jubako (??), a set of nested lacquered food boxes with either a cord tied vertically around the boxes or a stiff handle that locks them together.

3.) goshoguruma (???), an ox-drawn carriage favored by Heian nobility. This last is sometimes known as gisha or gyuusha (??).

Burek with Cheese

1 pkg dry yeast
1/4 c lukewarm water
1/4 tsp sugar
3 1/3 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 c lukewarm water
1/2 melted butter

Filling
9 eggs (slightly beaten)
1/2 lb crumbled feta cheese
3 TB melted butter
Butter a large round pan (15-16 in) and set aside. Prepare yeast with 1/4 c lukewarm water and 1/4 tsp sugar. Set aside. Sift flour and salt into large bowl, leaving a well in the middle. Add prepared yeast mixture into well. Begin mixing by hand and slowly add lukewarm water. Knead until dough forms a ball of medium consistency (approx 10 min). Divide dough into 14 equal parts, roll into round balls, cover and let stand for 1/2 hour. Melt 1/2 lb butter in saucepan. Roll out 4 balls into 6 in. circles, stack one on top of the other, brushing each layer with melted butter excluding the top layer. Let stand briefly, then roll out on slightly floured table to just a little bit larger than the bottom of your pan. Place in pan and brush top with melted butter. Mix filling and spread evenly to edge of pan. Now roll out one ball as thinly as you can; sprinkle with butter and gather it loosely into folds, and with a slight pull, elongate it. Starting from the center of the pan, place this dough over filling, circling it to look like a pinwheel. Repeat with remaining balls until you have reached the outer edge of your pan. Sprinkle generously with remaining butter. Cover with a tea towel and set Burek over a pan of very hot water for about 20 min. Bake in a preheated oven of 300 deg. for about 45 min or until nicely browned.

A bistro on the corner of Rue Fabert and Rue de Grenelle, just across from the Hotel des Invalides. The waiter looked ominous as I walked in, so I just quickly and seriptitiously (I hope) brought up my camera and took a fast snap, without even looking in the viewfinder, and then beat a hasty retreat. This is the serendipitous result.

I like the interior decor, and also the optical illusion of a larger space created by the clever use of repetitive architectural and design elements and the large mirror in the back.

“A Little Tale”…

Faeries have a very high metabolism and a high energy level during both the day and the night…They are in constant motion….moving, flying, doing, talking, dancing, singing, and etc. Thus, they continuously burn off enormous amounts of calories in one human day.

So, to keep themselves strong and their energy level high, they are constantly munching on snacks, berries, acorns or whatever is at hand as they go about their very important fairy business.

They are active all day, as well as during most of the night. However, at that very enchanting and magical time of day, as the sun is setting and Twilight begins to appear bringing its myste and shadows to the Enchanted Woods, the faeries stop and feast. Not only is this a time to completely fill and fuel their bodies, but it is a time for them to catch up and tell each other, their family, and their friends about their day.

Who eats with whom varies from day to day…families eat together when their off springs are young, couples dine alone, newlyweds slip off together to a secret place, and Faerie BFFs go off on their own to eat and gossip.

Speaking of gossip, all faeries love to gossip. They love it almost as much as they love food. While they stuff themselves until their bellies feel like bursting, they talk nonstop. In fact, at this magical time called Twilight, when you think you hear something like a buzzing, but are not quite certain so you pass it off as the woodland creatures settling in for the night, mostly likely you are hearing fairy chatter.

Being vegetarians, fairies eat the gifts given to them by nature. They love Unicorn milk; pure spring water; juices made from berries; all kinds of berries, especially gobblemeupbeeries, which grow only in certain areas of the Enchanted Woods; acorns; pine needle tea; mushrooms; and birch bark, just to name a very few.

When the eating and gossiping is finished, several talented male fairies bring out their enchanted reed flutes and begin to play tunes which originated from the ancient times…written by the ancient fairies eons ago.

These tunes seem to be embedded within each fairy. As the music starts, they join hands, form a circle, called a fairy ring, and dance…starting slowly and then going faster and faster until their tiny feet look like a blue cloud of energy.

While doing the “Dance of Old”, the music fills their minds with the memories of the ancient times long gone, their love for the Goddess, God, and nature, and the love for each other. This is what truly binds them together…this ancient music. They seem to become one. Doing the steps of old, they are in a “place” called “All Time”, where past is present, present is past, and the future is now. They are one with those before them, those assembled, and those yet to come.

As the music speeds up and their feet move faster and faster and the blue cloud of energy gets bigger, they go deeper into”All Time”. They are now in a state of complete peace. In this state, their bodies are being rejuvenated, refreshed, and cleansed.

Many humans have witnessed these fairy rings, especially in Ireland, Finland, and England. Because the music is ancient and magical, it also touches a chord in humans, who are connected to the elementals, fairies, and all living things on this earth. So, due to this connection, many a human is been drawn into the fairy ring and innately picks up the steps and keeps up the pace….and enters “All Time”.

Unfortunately, once in the fairy ring, a human cannot break free from the dance. He cannot let go of the hands that hold his and so he must dance and dance until the fairies stop.

To fairies in “All Time”, time stops, but to a human, it does not. So, when the fairies stop dancing, the human finds that 100 or even 200 years of human time have passed and he is now in the future with all those he loved and all that he had long gone and turned to dust. What a frightening feeling that must be.

So, I give this warning to you… when you see a fairy ring or hear the ancient songs, do what you must to prevent yourself from joining the dance. Plug your ears with your fingers, bite your tongue to cause pain, and run as fast as you can in the opposite direction.

And, never ever eat or drink anything offered to you by a fairy. Take this warning seriously or you will be lost in the future until your life on this earth comes to an end.

Each culture is beautiful. But, each culture has some things that those not part of it should not participate in…because the consequences may prove horrible.

Bench Monday: The Cookie Decorating Edition

AKA: "You ice it, it's yours." That's our policy with the little ones at Granny's house as every time they dip their knife in a bowl of icing we see it then go straight into their mouths. The cousins got together and decorated dozens of sugar cookies at my mom's yesterday. Lots of hard work, lots of icing and way too many sprinkles. A good day!

Last day Richard was in town. We had some morning meetings, lunch at Rudy's with Aaron and then he was off to airport around 4. I called it a day around 4:30 so I could go run some errands. Those errands led me to no traffic at 5 in the evening and the no traffic led me to Ikea. Today's mission, my first new bed. I spent about 3 hours in Ikea doing all sorts of planning. While there I also won some chairs I needed to compliment my dining room table. Stoked!

I decided on the Malm bed frame. It isn't too cheap, it isn't too expensive, and it looks dialed and comes in 4 colors or something. I went with the Dark Brown/ Black. I think this bed is the official Bed Frame of BMX. This may be the official bed of any dude that likes their stuff to look tight, haha.

I saved about 300 bucks on my mattress with a Craigslist score. The person I got it from had used it for maybe a week and it just didn't jive with their bad back. His loss was my gain. I was going to borrow Aaron's Suburban for this move, but I decided to just grab some rope and strap it to the top of my car. Mission Complete. Now I just have a nightstand and a dresser to get together. Can't wait for my place to be done.

Mission 9.1: Epidemic on Nelvaan: Storming the wreckage

Mission log 9.1

As my first mission as "Lieutenant Falcon" begun we were briefed by command that whilst the 89th was to scour the wreckage, we would head to the upper levels and try to find a lost platoon of Republic probe droids. I tasked CT-5643 with taking the rookies into the remaining structure whilst CT-1138 and I took position on the roof above.

It is a good thing we did as we managed to interrupt an battle droid sniper from taking a shot at one of the rookies. First mistake for them. Never move forward without cover. How they survived is a miracle which I cannot believe. After missing the shot the enemy droid attempted to flee. CT-1138 steered it into my line of sight of my scope, and unlike the droid. I never miss.

My newly warped spot on my coffee table thanks to a Glade Air Freshener!

Okay, I thought it was just liquid when I found the glass Glade air freshener was face down on the table...so I go get a towel to clean it up and it's actually the furnishing on my coffee table! I was pissed at first but it was kinda cool to look at...so I will leave it...it wasn't an expensive coffee table (Parson's Coffee Table...$25.00 at Wal-Mart)...It's just something you don't see everyday...

Now hypothetically if this were say a priceless or expensive coffee table...bet that person would file a lawsuit against Glade (Johnson - A Family Company) lol.

Small Latte & a Black Coffee

I was very pleased I hadn't asked for a large one when I saw the size of this!

It tickles me no end that these are called latte - my mother used to make such coffee when I was a child except she called it milky coffee. There is really nothing new under the sun - just called by a different name.

Another junk find. Heywood Wakefield Step-End Table (Aristocraft) M974 (Champagne) (stamped HW/Champagne #24/Jan 24 1956).

This is in need of a refinishing. Some Google searches have pulled DIY kits you can buy while other sites state that this should only be done by a professional.

UPDATE:
Got some tips on refinishing this from one of the formula guys.
First step is to strip this. I got nothing better to do tomorrow!

Tables by the boats

Taken at the floating restaurant at Loopen Marin AB (or is that the name of the restaurant?). It's near Hornstull. The restaurant is know for it's cheap looking fake palm trees. However, it gets pretty good reviews (and I concur) despite that bit of cheesinss.
