Laalazaar (Read a 10 minute story)

Laalazaar (Read a 10 minute story)

Explored!
From the series of My Naran Kaghan Tour!
A 10 Minute Story!
This is a view of Laalazar, a plain surface on the top of a Hill! Highly dangerous way I've ever seen in my life! I was sitting on the front seat of Jeap! Two tires of it were almost at the edge of the 8~9 feet muddy track highly mosturated due to drizzling! That was actually a peace of real driving! assume how the driver manage if another jeep comes from the opposite side! :O :O.. *Yeww* inside, I was actually screaming! It wasn't the end of our lalaazar's visit. The Pathan Driver just asked us to hike down towards the Jeep! coz it's impossible to drive on that track while it's raining. He asked us that it's just the distance of 10 minutes. We saw down and assumed, hmm... may be He is right!! so he went down and we started enjoying lalaazar! After half and hour we decided to move! coz we had to visit Lake Lulusar ("Looloosar") too.
Aftet 10 minutes we could cover only 20 Meter distance! actualy it was very steep, one little mistake and you are gone :P, or can reach in to your Original Desitnation in a single minute :P, anyhow! after 2 hours and 30 minutes we could reach to our jeap! Asked the driver about 10 minutes *frown* !!!! but he gave us a 100 million dollar smile! :( :(.. Poor We!!!
see what I got for you! after that huge Effort! ( I’ve one more from laalazar but before it you will see another view of Balakot! :P or depends on my mood ;) )..
till then ENJOY the beauty!

Can you believe it only takes 10 minutes to make this!

Can you believe it only takes 10 minutes to make this!

My friends can see a larger size! Please do :-)

Thanks so much for your wonderful compliments, everyone :-)

Garganelli is lovely durum wheat pasta, which has a lovely golden colour because of the high egg content. It’s imported from Italy and available from quality food shops and Italian markets. Its shape and texture is ideal for chunky sauces.

This evening I had lots of fresh asparagus and speck in the fridge, as well as some cherry tomatoes, so I decided to whip this up. Once I had the pasta cooking in lots of salted water and the plates warming in the oven, I griddled the asparagus [cut in thirds] in a little extra virgin olive oil [EVOO] with some sliced garlic, several sprigs of fresh thyme, the halved tomatoes, and the speck. This only takes about 5 minutes for the asparagus, and 2 or 3 minutes for the rest. As soon as the pasta is drained, put it back in the pot, add a generous amount of EVOO, lots of freshly grated black pepper, and a little sea salt. Over a med-high heat, toss for 30 seconds until it sizzles, then add the ingredients in the griddle, add a generous squeeze of fresh lemon juice, and give a gentle toss.

Serve immediately on the warm plates. Serve with a small bowl of fleur de sel so guests can sprinkle a pinch on their dish to bring out the flavour.

Only 10 minutes from start to finish!

Bristol blitz Mardons No.9 Factory in ruins

Bristol blitz Mardons No.9 Factory in ruins

Bristol blitz Mardons No.9 Factory in ruins.

Memories of Mardons by a former worker.

The year 1922 saw further expansion, No.2 Factory being built for producing cartons and folding boxes on a large scale on a site adjoining St. Anne's Board Mill (an Imperial subsidiary company), allowing the smooth flow of material to machine. The same year Richard Dalton died (remembered as the man who obtained the first order for cardboard boxes from Wills in 1883) and Ernest Mardon became chairman in stead. During Ernest's term of office, two more factories were built at Temple Gate, Nos 12 and 15, while in Redcliffe Street a classical style building in Bristol Byzantine architecture became the new premises for Mardon's Evening Club in 1931, proving a real godsend when used for other purposes after the war.

In the 1920's a change in packaging styles saw rigid and folding boxes introduced, and once again Mardon's had the first machine in the city to manufacture distinctive domed lid boxes for cigarettes which were known as Laube boxes. This new box plant was introduced by Ernest Mardon's son-in- law, Captain G.L. Stratton, who was a dynamic character with great drive and enthusiasm. Quite often an artist would prefer to use an actual object for his sketch, and for the series 'Animals of the Countryside' Charles Fry (who specialised in natural history subjects) managed to get two dead adders, which were kept in a box at the side of his bench. When finished with, the snakes were given to one of the department juniors for disposal.

He was either up to his tricks or completely nonplussed, for the following night an item appeared in the evening paper headed 'Venomous Snakes found in Victoria Street', followed by Mystery surrounds, etc...'. A few days later it transpired that the lad had parked the shoe-box containing the snakes on the roof of a car outside the factory! Another story is the old street musician who always stood outside the main entrance to the Caxton Works at the end of the day (and on pay day!), holding a gramophone whose clockwork motor had seen better days! Undeterred, the busker, F. Tarrs, would revolve the record on the turntable with the forefinger of his right hand, the gramophone emitting an horrific whining tune.

State Aid Law of the European Union

State Aid Law of the European Union

TIMELY REFORM OF THE EU’S STATE AID LAWS

A review by Phillip Taylor MBE, Richmond Green Chambers

First of all let me nail my (proverbial) colours to the mast and declare myself an enthusiastic European (though UK-born), supporter of the EU and an avid, if somewhat bemused, student of EU law, which, as it proliferates from year to year, appears to be growing as vast as the universe itself.

Perhaps all this explains why, when first dipping into this book, my eyes glazed over just a little, although this is assuredly less the fault of the authors than of the tortuous and tendentious nature of the legislation itself and the way it is drafted.

It does reveal, in my view, the mind-set of any number of EU bureaucrats, who’s ability to convert something relatively simple into a construct of Byzantine complexity has become legendary.

But I digress because this is actually a very useful book. Translated from the original Danish, it provides, as far as I can tell, everything you need to know about EU state aid and EU state aid law. If you’re an EU bureaucrat, you’ll love it. If you aren’t you won’t. But you will nonetheless value it as a definitive work in this complex area of law.

If you need clarification of what ‘State aid’ is, you will find it herein, as long as you happy with an elaborate explanation rather than a succinct definition. “State aid”, say the authors:

‘is an objective term, but as discussed in paras 1-020 to 1-047 it is often difficult to determine whether an actual measure in fact constitutes aid. However, in principle the Commission does not have any discretionary powers with regard to such a decision. The use of the market economy investor principle as a basis for determining whether aid exists is often connected with a complex economic assessment, so that the ECJ is reluctant to apply its own assessment of whether aid exists in place of the Commission’s assessment;...’

So now you know!

I was grateful when I read this, that I had already read earlier in the text, the examples of the Different Kinds of Aid, in what the authors reassuringly refer to as ‘everyday language’. Ah, bless! Understanding is always more immediate when you give examples, which include environmental aid, investment aid, research and development aid and more.

Most of the purposes listed for such aid are laudable of course, although one or two are controversial, including the one about supporting industry and commerce ‘which is no longer competitive’. A good question to consider is if one wonders how much aid is needed for a purpose like this, and where the pecuniary support is actually meant to come from!

On balance, the authors have done a commendable job with their thorough coverage of this unexpectedly complicated subject area and have amply succeeded in their primary aim expressed in their foreword, which is to: ‘provide the reader with a practical tool which can form the basis, for or help solving (sic.) most questions relating to EC State aid law.’ Indeed, a timely reminder of the reforms of our state aid laws.

Governor Schwarzenegger Meets with President Obama in Washington, Encourages New Era of Infrastructure Investment

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger met with President Barack Obama at the White House today to discuss the importance of large-scale and sustained federal infrastructure investment to the nation's economic growth, environmental protection and national security. Joined by Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, his co-chairs in the Building America's Future coalition, the group encouraged a new era of infrastructure investment in the United States, noting that a visionary national infrastructure policy can play a central role not only in fostering immediate job creation but also in establishing long-term U.S. economic competitiveness, addressing global warming and our dependence of fossil fuels, improving national security and enhancing quality of life and safety across the nation.

Flow | State

Polished fat floats on dreams...

I am source filtered through eyes, mind, hand, technology, material. This practice is my impulse, war, disease, soul, drug, child, hate, play, orgasm, secret, drink, theory, cure, dance, lie, voice, prayer, role, rapture, habit, song.

Smothered in folds, standing on end; fouled thought gagging on the spray of its champions. Every shiny surface reflects an untamed lust for finger, breath, crease, lip, bottle. I am wading into Mcluhan's tetrad; cupping an overfed breast, watching for the past to swirl away.

Animated primitives emit particles in space flowing out under the influence of scripts that pull them into a vortex, which make them fall at 9.8 meters per second (per second), and which allow them to bounce and stick together as they approach one another. Each node probes, fights, is overcome, divides, and is diluted.

Staring at the first meme through wet lenses; purified in a flow, a mist, a squirt, a drop (crowned in reflection). At a distance shape seems a smooth and stable boundary (holding color and texture in repose). Each body suckles, seeds, laughs, fears, bleeds, is worshiped, corrupted, and forgotten.

A cloud of points behave as a fluid whose shape is influenced by the parameters and rules an operator chooses, as well as the physical-dynamic observations of software architects. Plunging in, matter is orifice; flesh, a soft and staining buttress for a limp craftsman. I am reading, forming, twisting, smashing, and losing hold of common, unconscious forms; finding that the order I've been nearing is an unshapable swarm of lust.

Spheres are wrapped around each node, intersect and blend with one another, and become the structural modules of an intended single, contiguous form being sculpted. But in each session of digital fluids at play there are dozens, hundreds, thousands of unique remnant polypoints and metaballs left over.

Ornaments reclaim alienated, hulking, frozen orphans as mementos of small, violent, rhythmic collisions of molecules. These things mark a slippery interface between the pregnant and the obese, the humane and the monstrous, the untouched and the anesthetized.

Pip gets it

Pip gets it

We're headed back to Colorado ...

Today we made it as far as Winnemucca (somehow, I'm not in quite as much of a hurry to get back as I was on the way out) and are staying at a Best Western ... clean rooms, a full bath (I love a good soak after driving for hours on end), free wireless internet, continental breakfast, and no pet fee. Not bad for $50.

I bring this blanket when we stay in hotels (I know, poodles don't shed, but my dogs can get a bit dirty -- especially Layla, who has a propensity for rolling in stinky things).

I don't give Pip enough credit ... I still think of him as a puppy who doesn't understand the rules, but he's been a very good boy on this trip.

Pip standing guard over toys that were in danger of being thrown away, with some close-ups of the toy's various deformities. Pip convinced me to open a stuffed animal hospital, instead, so I'll be re-stuffing them and sewing them back up to the best of my abilities. I think I will refrain from replacing the de-squeaked squeakers, though.

Convergence- How Five Trends Will Reshape the Social Sector-the LaPiana Associates report-Graph.png

Convergence- How Five Trends Will Reshape the Social Sector-the LaPiana Associates report-Graph.png

It is not possible in the allotted space I have here to capture everything the report highlights as propositions for us to consider. But I will flag a few things that were deeply resonant and interesting:

* Going forward, the driving question will be “what do we want to accomplish?”, with corporate form (whether nonprofit, for-profit, hybrid, network) following from this goal. Younger generations are less tied to particular organizational forms (and the rush to form 501(c)3s). They are most interested in tapping the best tools that help get the job done, including social media. Sector-agnosticism is in!
* Increasingly, the communication emanating from organizations and initiatives will need to be continuous, personalized, and come from multiple sources. Anything that smacks of being overly “marketed,” or trumpeted only by an expert/celebrity, will not be well received. Authenticity is in!
* A new kind of ROI is on the rise, thanks in part to collaborative tools such as Twitter – not Return on Investment, but Return on Insight. Listening and learning are in!
* Navigating the convergence of all five trends will mean that organizations need to abandon overtly and overly hierarchical structures and become much more collaboration and network-savvy.
* Furthermore, we are all being called upon to become futurists of sorts who acknowledge that with the existing rates of change, what is so today will not necessarily be so tomorrow. It behooves us to tune into our surroundings and take careful note of the shifts and to adapt!

There is much more to say, and I will leave it to you now. What do you think? What do you see as the future of the social sector and our work?
