1855-O $10.00 NGC AU55
The 1855-O remains one of the rarer No Motto eagles from the New Orleans mint. I rank it as tied for the 5th rarest of 21 overall, but it is actually a harder coin to find than issues such as the 1852-O or 1856-O when it comes to original color and surfaces.
This fresh-to-the-market example has lovely deep green-gold hues and virtually unmarked surfaces. While rare with color such as this, this date is extremely hard to locate with nice surfaces. On top of this, the strike is even and the stars on the obverse have partially formed radial lines.
Only two examples of this date are known in Uncirculated and I think there are fewer than twenty accurately graded AU's.
1848-O $10.00 NGC AU58 CAC
As with all known examples of this date, the strike is distinctive with a flat, almost concave appearance on the obverse. This coin shows little actual wear and a considerable amount of soft, satiny luster below medium natural greenish-gold color. Some areas of dirt remain in the protected areas and this is one of the few remaining 1848-O eagles that has not been processed and which is overly bright as a result.
There are around 150-175 known with most grading VF to EF. This date is rare in properly graded AU58. In Uncirculated, it is a touch more available than one might expect but Mint State pieces are extremely expensive.
