As a Man Thinketh

As a Man Thinketh

James Allens classic AS A MAN THINKETH. The Bestselling Classic That Inspired "The Secret". AS A MAN THINKETH, Allen's most famous book, today is considered a classic self-help book. Its underlying premise is that noble thoughts make a noble person, while lowly thoughts make a miserable person. In "As a Man Thinketh," James Allen reveals how our thoughts determine reality. Whether or not we are conscious of it, our underlying beliefs shape our character, our health and appearance, our circumstances, and our destinies. Allen shows how we can master our thoughts to create the life we want, lest we drift through life unconscious of the inner forces that keep us mired in failure and frustration. "The Vision that you glorify in your mind, the Ideal that you enthrone in your heart-this you will build your life by, this you will become." This principle, which others have called THE SECRET or the LAW OF ATTRACTION, was clearly and convincingly stated for the first time in "As a Man Thinketh." As a being of Power, Intelligence, and Love, and the lord of his own thoughts, man holds the key to every situation, and contains within himself that transforming and regenerative agency by which he may make himself what he wills.

Gođafoss (Waterfall of the Gods)

Gođafoss (Waterfall of the Gods)

THE most beautiful waterfall on Iceland. And probably in Europe. Absolute dahling.

Iceland has a lot of waterfalls. They could export them. The famous ones have names, the less famous ones also, and the unknown have also names but are hard to find out. Now, a very popular belief is that these waterfalls are melting glaciers. This is partly true. What they do not tell and is also true is, that huge proportion of these waterfalls is rain water. As we are bracing ourselves for treaterous weather (icelandic weather) I would like to share with you the secret recipe behind this picture, as few of you have pointed out my luck. You have now unique opportunity to taste the high life I lived on my holiday.

So hop into the car, take a sleeping bag, some snacks, drive somewhere where there arent many people, but there is some interesting places within driving distance. Take camera and tripod with you. Wait for the gales and rain and you are in Iceland :-) You probably wont be able to sleep at night due to the rain bashing your car and the wind rocking it that feels like dozen of youths are trying to get you out with their baseball bats. You also have to keep one eye on the sky, in case a clear patch in the sky appears, and Aurora shows you its magic. Now, I know it is not very likely, but remember, you are in Iceland and it is very possible. In the morning you are not to feel tired, or wait for somehing like golden hour. As soon as the rain stops, you jump out and go and look for compositions and take pictures. Weather will turn in no time, and then you wish you made the effort as you only have about 30 minutes of no rain. In Iceland, no rain is your golden moment. Should weather suddenly improve and sun and blue skies make a guest appearance, you are not to stay in one place. You have to aim to take pictures from two different places. I mean different locations, not two different views. And this is the recipe, behind this capture. Five minutes later, the heavens opened. Again. Looks like the Gods like to keep the waterfall levels topped up :-)

And why waterfall of the Gods? Well icelanders have been practising Paganism and when they decided to accept Chritianity as their religion (due to danish king pushing for it), their chieftain that was called Gunnar Gunnarson threw wooden images of the Pagan gods into the waterfall. Now his name wasnt Gunnar Gunnarson, I cant be asked to look it up, but you can not go wrong with that name in Iceland. I think GG is the same what is Joe Bloggs in England.

Enjoy and Im looking forward to your lucky images :-)

BEAUTY IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER

BEAUTY IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER

I have always thought of thistles as weeds and ugly weeds at that.

But, last month, Shane and I were wandering around Co.Donegal and we stopped in at Inch Island Bird reserve.

Bit disappointed because the birds were miles away and with no chance of getting closer because of the marsh AND it was pouring down.

On the walk back to the car I started really looking at what seemed hundreds of varieties of thistles and I thought wow, as most of them had spider webs covering them and they were covered in droplets.

So I now have a new appreciation for thistles as they, like us, have a place in the ecosystem.

I did go to the filming last Thursday for Game of Thrones. Couldn't get onto the set as it was closed so instead I went to the cliff top.

This area is owned by the National Trust which we are members of so I had a prime view.

Five hours of howling wind was my limit though. BUT, I had a great time as the Bishop's Palace and Temple were still open to the public and for some strange reason all the tour groups seemed to gravitate towards me and I held Court (you can imagine it can't you!!)

The Security Guards didn't escape either as I gave them a crash course in the history of the Palace.

Have to find out where they are filming next!

BETTER ON BLACK - TRULY!!!
